Thank You All!
We wish to thank all of you for your
donations and prayers for our daughter “Lanie.” Your help has been
a modern day miracle for this family. During our recent
difficulties, your support meant more than words can express.
Surgery
was performed for “Lanie” on October 5, 2010, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock
Medical Center, Lebanon, NH. The surgery was a huge success and
our daughter is making a beautiful recovery at home and gaining strength
with each new day.
Thank you and GOD bless you all!

Veteran’s Day 2010
I’ve watched TV and read in the news
mediums of demonstrators, condemning and harassing families at funerals
of our soldiers that have made the supreme sacrifice engaged in the war
against world wide terrorism.
The First Amendment to the Constitution
of the United States of America granted them that right (freedom of
religion, speech, and the press; rights of assembly and petition.)
However, Article One (1), Section Eight (8) of the Constitution grants
us the right to defend the United States of America...the Congress shall
have power, “To declare war.” Perhaps they (the demonstrators)
have forgotten 911 and the many deaths on America’s soil.
The
deceased soldiers, returning home to families, friends, and loved-ones
deserve to be interned in peace and with dignity. They have paid
the ultimate price for us, every American, for the First Amendment,
along with all the other Amendments and freedoms that we enjoy.
Why? Because, they believed in the Motto: “America Land of the
Free, Home of the Brave.”
“They have fought the good fight, they have
finished the race, and they have kept the faith.” --2 Timothy 4:7
If
you should meet a Military Veteran today or anytime, shake their hand
and thank that Veteran for their service (World War I, World War II,
Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraq, and Afghanistan), it doesn’t matter
which war, they all served.
Thank you, and may GOD Bless the United
States of America.

Be sure to mark your calendar so you don’t miss the kickoff
to the holiday season on Saturday, November 6th. Visit the Pumpkin
‘n’ Pine Fair at the Congregational Church of North Barnstead at 504
North Barnstead Road in Center Barnstead from 9 AM to 2 PM. Crafts
and activities will be available for children, so don’t let your kids
keep you home that day!
There will be a cornucopia of irresistible
items—something for everyone on your Christmas list: jewelry old and
new, crafts, seasonal decorations, toys for all ages, collectibles, and
beautiful handmade fair-trade items from other lands. There
is even a Critter Table with gifts for your favorite pet and your
critter loving friends.
The main feature of the fair is the silent
auction, offering unique items including an antique coverlet, a leather
backpack, a table setting for six, certificates for local services, and
lots more. Bid high and bid often!
A really spectacular quilt
depicting small-town life, made by the Barnstead Country Quilters, is
being raffled off. It will be on display at this fair and again at
the St. Stephen’s Holiday Fair in Pittsfield, where the drawing will
take place on Saturday, November 20th.
For your table, choose from
the wonderful pies, breads, and other goodies on the Bake Table and be
sure to buy raffle tickets for the Thanksgiving food basket.
Stop by
the Schoolhouse Café for a snack or lunch and enjoy some good home
cooking while you chat with your friends, consult your shopping list,
and show off your special finds. You might want to make one more
pass at the goods on offer before you go on your way!

Jim Forsythe has been an outstanding member of our community in
Strafford, with a strong record of service and commitment to our youth.
Jim was my successor as Cubmaster of our local Cub Scout Pack, mentoring
a large group of young boys and adult leaders. His leadership, energy,
and enthusiasm were critical in providing an excellent program for the
Pack. He was an excellent role model for our organization as he led
monthly Pack meetings, helped organize camping trips, and participated
in den meetings. In addition to serving as Cubmaster, Jim has also been
a volunteer coach for the recreational soccer program, devoting his time
and energy to ensure a quality athletic program for our kids. Between
soccer and Cub Scouts, my children and many others have benefited from
the time Jim has given serving his community.
But Jim’s commitment to
his local community doesn’t end there. He has also consistently
advocated for the taxpayers of Strafford by attending selectmen and
school board meetings. He was a leader in the fight to repeal the
LLC Tax, going out of his way to explain to others why it would be so
detrimental to business in our state. What impresses me most about
Jim is that you can count on him to present the hard facts about what is
going on so that you can make informed decisions. I believe Jim
Forsythe’s record of community service and taxpayer advocacy shows how
hard he will work as a State Senator to represent District 4.
