Letter To
the Editor
The job
of Selectman in our area small towns is time consuming, often thankless,
and it requires making tough financial and planning decisions. I
admire anyone who steps up to the plate and runs for town Selectman.
But,
as a voter, I have certain characteristics that I want to see in my
town’s Selectman. I want to see a person of good character,
who has managerial and administrative experience. Good
people skills are a must. A background in budgeting and financing
would be a boon to my preferred Selectman’s resume. And
above all, I want to see a Selectman’s candidate whose motivation to run
for the position is because the candidate has only the best interests of
the town and the taxpayers in mind.
This year, I believe Barnstead has such a
candidate running for Selectman and I believe that candidate is Francis
Vardaro. Fran has the business experience, the financial
experience and also, critically important, the time to fulfill the
responsibilities of the Selectman’s position. He is a
straight-forward person. He is approachable and will listen to
taxpayers’ concerns.
I strongly believe that Francis Vardaro is an
exceptional candidate for Barnstead Selectman and I urge you to give him
your vote.
