Barnstead Parks And Recreation Reminder
Barnstead
Parks & Recreation has begun accepting registrations for fall soccer for
children entering kindergarten (or age 5) through grade 6. Registration
may be completed online at
www.barnsteadrec.org/soccer, or by printing out a registration form
and waiver from the BPR website. Fees are $35.00 per player, with a cap
of $70.00 per family.
All players
must be registered no later than August 1.
Volunteers
are sought to serve as coaches and assistant coaches for all levels
(K-6). Please contact BPR on Facebook or at

you are interested in coaching.
University Of Maine Announces Spring 2015 Dean’s List
Orono,
Maine — The University of Maine recognized 2,163 students for achieving
Dean’s List honors in the spring 2015 semester. Of the students who made
the Dean’s List, 1,710 are from Maine, 377 are from 31 other states and
76 are from 22 countries other than the U.S.

below are local students who received Dean’s List honors for spring
2015, completing 12 or more credit hours in the semester and earning a
grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Saturday, July 11, Barnstead Parks and Recreation proudly hosts the
return of High Range to the Summer Concert Series stage. An energetic
roots/folk/bluegrass group with a long list of rave reviews from
national publications, they highlight original music with a mix of cover
songs on guitar, upright bass, mandolin, fiddle, banjo and drums. One
reviewer is quoted as saying, “High Range has forged a tight, compelling
ensemble sound that is highly musical and thoroughly entertaining.”
Bring your lawn chair or blanket, grab your friends and come check out
their unique sound for yourself. As always, smoking and alcohol are
prohibited on the Parade Grounds. The Barnstead Summer Concert Series
is a free event, and the show starts at 6:00 p.m. at the Barnstead
Parade Grounds. Concessions will be offered for sale by the Parade
Congregational Church.

The Summer
Reading Program Has Begun!
Visit the
library or go online to record the books you’ve read this summer and get
raffle tickets for our summer prizes. This year our themes are “Every
Hero Has a Story” for children and teens and “Escape the Ordinary” for
adults. It is not too late to sign up at the circulation desk, online,
or by calling. Our weekly activities have begun. Go online or visit for
a calendar of events!
Minecraft
Game Day!
The library
is hosting a Minecraft Game Day on July 17th at 3pm! We hope to build
some interesting creations and share experiences about the game we love.
Please bring your own laptops, smart devices, or anything to play
Minecraft on if you have them.

The Friends
of the Library meet on the second Thursday of each month at 7pm at the
library. People can join the Friends of Oscar Foss Memorial Library at
any meeting or by picking up a brochure at the library. The membership
fee is $5.00 per person.

Obituaries
Eldon Heath
Eldon “Bud”
Heath, 95, of Heath Lane, Barnstead, died July 2nd at the Concord
Hospice House. He was born July 23rd, 1919, eldest son of the late Ralph
and Barbara (Carter) Heath in Putney, VT. His Dear Wife and partner of
69 years, Elizabeth “Belle” Heath predeceased him in 2013. He spent most
of his childhood in Swansey, NH, graduating from Keene High School in
1938. He had fond memories of visiting his grandfather Edward Carter at
Kaolin Farms (now the Budweiser Factory) in Merrimack, NH. He served his
country during WWII in the US Army as a military guard at a POW Camp in
Louisiana. He returned home after the war to his home in Pittsfield to
be with Belle and infant son Roger. A Daughter Barbara completed the
family. He retired as Superintendent of Bridge Maintenance for the State
of New Hampshire. He was the oldest Past Master of the Corinthian
Masonic Lodge in Pittsfield. In his later years he took great joy in
raising large tomato plants to be sold to friends in the Concord Medical
Community. He had a great love for gardening, he made sure each home he
built had a root cellar.
He is
survived by his son Roger Heath and wife Janet of Heath Lane, Barnstead,
a daughter Barbara Berry and husband Dan of Barnstead. Four
Grandchildren Dan Berry and wife Lori, Jodi Glines and husband Jay,
Carter Heath and wife Tricia, and Nathan Heath and wife Kristy. His
Great Grandchildren Jordan Berry, Kylie Berry, Kelsea Bonin, Keaton
Heath, Megan Heath, Emily Heath, Molly Heath, Meg Glines, Sarah Glines,
Kate Glines, Aaron Glines, Eli Glines, and Simon Glines.
There are
no visiting Hours. A Graveside Service was held Tuesday, July 7th, at
10:00 AM in the Floral Park Cemetery, Pittsfield.
