Obituaries
Thomas G. Locke
Barnstead, NH - It is with great sadness that we announce the
passing of Thomas G. Locke, 76, on November 17, 2016. Tom was a
life-long resident of Barnstead, growing up on Locke’s Blueberry Farm,
the youngest son of Kent & Margaret Locke.
Tom was a
kind and gentle man and a loyal friend to all who knew him, willing to
spend time talking about the Red Sox, deer hunting or farming to anyone
who shared his passions. He went to Alton schools and was a key player
on their championship baseball & basketball teams. He attended UNH where
he participated in SCCA road racing with his Austin-Healey Sprite &
Alpha Romeo. He transferred to Plymouth State College earning his
bachelors degree. He taught high school for 1 year at Belmont, NH,
coaching cross-country track, basketball & baseball. It was at that time
the family was building Locke Lake and he returned to the construction
business, building many of the houses there. In later years he enjoyed
various occupations but returned to farming in 2006 running Veggies
Galore & More with his wife Joanne (Fahma Jo).
Tom was a
man of faith, sharing the gospel with others every chance he got. He was
a member of Milton Assembly of God, the Epsom-Chichester Lions and
President, Belknap County Farm Bureau. He was a member of the US Army
Reserve, 368th Engineer Battalion from 1965 thru 1971.
Tom &
Joanne just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, marrying at the
little church on North Barnstead Road across from their house. They have
two children, Sara T Hardy of Epsom & Jeremy T Locke of Barnstead and
three grandchildren, Alexandra, Matthew & Zachary, and a very special
niece Zoë who they thought of as a granddaughter.
Tom is
survived by his brother James of Gilmanton IW and many nieces and
nephews. He was pre-deceased by a brother Kent Jr of Gilford.
A
celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at
the Congregational Church of North Barnstead, 504 North Barnstead Road,
Center Barnstead, NH. Please don’t be sad or wear black! Red Sox
shirts/hats or your best hunting vest is encouraged! He will be looking
down from Heaven enjoying the day.
