Happy Birthday to Tracie Davison on May 24.
We hope you have enjoyed the daffodils along Main Street this
spring. With the exception of the ones along Barbara Frangione’s
stone wall they were planted by the Heritage Commission last fall
and have added a cheerful spring touch to Chichester’s Main Street.
Please plan to attend the Memorial Day observance sponsored by
Chichester Grange on Wednesday, May 30. It will be at 6:30 pm in the
parking lot next to the Town Hall where the Veterans Memorial is
located. The Cub Scouts will place a wreath and there will be brief
readings and songs in honor of the day.
The Cub Scouts of Pack 85 in Chichester are recruiting new members.
If your son will be entering 1st grade in the fall, it is time to
consider whether he might be interested in becoming a Cub Scout. Cub
Scouting is fun with a purpose; the boys make friends, have fun, and
learn while incorporating the 12 core values of scouting. For more
information about Cub Scouting in Chichester, call Karen McCormack
at 848-7285 or email at
[email protected].

Letter
Work has begun at the Chichester Library to pave the way for our
Community Meeting Room! The garage area has to be transformed first
to allow shelving and bookcases to be installed so the book sales
can continue.
The cement work is done, thank you Luke Stevens; electrical work is
done, thank you Joe Amour; and a Big Thank You to the
Epsom-Chichester Lions Club, who are donating their time to frame,
and install insulation and wallboard.
The picture shows part of the crew hard at work on Saturday, May
5th, which included not only the Lions Club members, but a local
resident as well. Thank you all very much!

Out Of Your Attic Thrift Shop News
Submitted By Carol Hendee
The month is just flying by. We took down the Mother’s Day items and
replaced them with Father’s Day items!
We have experienced a slight slow down in patrons and donations now
that yard sale season is upon us. Do remember, if you have a yard
sale and all your items do not sell, and you do not want to store
them again, feel free to bring them to the Attic for a chance at
being recycled once again. If it was good enough to go in your yard
sale, it is good enough to try and sell at the Attic. Proceeds go to
Baby Threads!
We have many boys shorts to choose from and quite a few small boys
sneakers. They outgrow them quickly from age 5-10!
We’re open Mon. 8-12, Tues. and Thurs. 8-4, Wed. 11-4 and Sat. 10-4.
We are on Route 28 near the Pittsfield line. Give us a call at
247-7191.
Route 28 Bakery Goes Wholesale
Submitted By Laura Foss, Owner
Route 28 Bakery of Chichester, a family owned and operated bakery of
five years, has made an important change to its daily operations.
Due to high daily operational costs, we have decided to close our
doors to "walk-in customers" only, so we can focus our energy and
attention on fulfilling our wholesale orders for our local vendors.
At this time, you can find Route 28 Bakery’s specialty breads, pies
and pastries at the following locations: Osborne Agway, Concord;
Johnson Golden Harvest, Hooksett; Blueberry Station, Barnstead;
Confectionately Yours, Loudon; The Meat House, Concord; Meadow Ledge
Farm (seasonal), Loudon.
If you were a recent customer we encourage you to visit one of our
local vendors, or if you like, you may call in your own individual
order to the bakery at 435-8081, as we will accept public orders by
phone or e-mail. When placing your order we will coordinate with you
an exact pick up date at the bakery.
In the Fall, we will still welcome public Thanksgiving and Christmas
bakery orders. Two days before each of the holidays we will open our
doors so that you may pick up your bakery items within that time
frame.
We’d like to thank our loyal customers for their patronage and
support and still look forward to baking for your special occasions.
Visit our website at
www.route28bakery.com for more details. We appreciate your
business.
Chichester Library News
On Wednesday, May 7th, the Chichester Garden Club held its first
meeting. At the meeting, the members made a list of discussion
topics for future meetings and exchanged general gardening theories.
On Wednesday, June 6th at 7 pm, the Garden Club will meet at the
Chichester Town Library to discuss where to find free plants. All
levels of experience are encouraged to attend - whether you are
interested in growing vegetables or consider yourself a flower
enthusiast. The only requirement is an interest in gardening.
Chichester Grange
The May 16th meeting of Chichester Grange began with a very
informative presentation by members of the Chichester Heritage
Commission. Lucille Noel spoke about how Heritage Commissions are
formed and how they differ from Historical Societies because a
Heritage Commission is subject to RSAs from the State of New
Hampshire. She also explained the various projects the Chichester
Heritage Commission is pursuing.
They are working to have the Chichester Library building placed on
the NH Historic register. They have received a grant to repair some
of the windows at the Town/Grange Hall to make them more energy
efficient and easier to open and are trying to raise money so the
rest of the windows can also be fixed. They have a "Historic Main
Street" brochure. They planted daffodil bulbs along Main Street last
fall. They are hoping to designate some scenic roads in Chichester,
so trees and stone walls can be preserved along with the rural
flavor of the town.
Bob McAnney, also from the Heritage Commission, then spoke about the
maple tree project on Canterbury Road, where dying maples are being
replaced with a more salt resistant variety as time and money
allows.
Following the program, Grange members presented the Heritage
Commission with a check to help support the windows project and then
proceeded to the business meeting portion of the evening.
Plans were made for the Memorial Day observance on May 30 at 6:30
pm. It is hoped new mulch can be spread before then in the Memorial
Park area.
Wildlife sightings included baby raccoons, a fox, a deer very near
the highway, chipmunks, and woodchucks, as well as wild turkeys and
many varieties of birds.
Members should be thinking ahead about how to allocate the money
raised for Heifer International and where to hold the annual July
Eat-Out. There are also a few long-term membership awards that still
need to be presented. These matters will be decided at the June 6th
meeting. Tentative plans were formed for another Penny Sale to be
held on June 23rd if the hall is available. This sale may be
combined with a "Make Your Own Sundae" food event.
Following the meeting, members enjoyed refreshments while waiting
for the thunder storm to die down and hoping that the lights would
stay on. Fortunately, the lights only went off for less than a
minute a couple of times.
Chichester Historical Society Yard Sale
The Chichester Historical Society is planning a yard sale for
Saturday, June 2nd. We are looking for donations for this fund
raising event. If you have any items you would like to donate,
please drop them off at the museum located at 49 Main Street (across
from the Grange/Town Hall) Tuesday mornings between 9 am and noon.
Or call Bernd Reinhardt at 798-3318, Lucille Noel at 798-5709 or
Dick Pratt at 798-3151 and we will gladly open the museum.
Please do not leave items unattended at the museum. Plan to join us
on Saturday, June 2nd from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, rain or shine, and
pick up some wonderful bargains!
