Chichester Town Library News
The New Year starts tomorrow and the Library wishes happy and
healthy one to all. We can all look forward to enjoying new and
used books to read or listen to, as well as favorites to re-read.
There are people to meet and activities to enjoy. All of these are
a central theme to the Chichester Town Library. If you have
interests that you would like to share with others, check out what
already exists and is happening at the Library, e.g., crafts, book
club, photography, writers, poets, youth group, etc. Other
community groups you may want to join also meet at the Library. Not
finding what you want? Then check in with Lisa or Kayla to see if
something can be fashioned to meet the need. If you are generally
interested in supporting the Library and its activities, consider
joining the Lovers of the Chichester Library, fondly known as LOCL,
which meets the third Monday evening of the month, at 7 p.m.
There’s always something to do at the Library! Also, join us on
Facebook to check in, provide input, etc.
The Craft Club will be meeting on Monday, January 5th at 6:30.
The Down Cellar Poets’ Workshop for Adult Writers is also expected
to meet on January 5th at 7 p.m. If there is a question on the
meeting, members should call the facilitator or the Library.
Pre-school Story and Craft “Hour” will be held on January 8th at
10:30 a.m. Enjoy a special time with your young one(s) at the
Library.
The Book Club will also be meeting tomorrow, January 8th, at noon,
where a discussion of The Night Circus, by Erin Morgenstern will be
held, plus learning what the next month’s book will be.
On the afternoon of January 11th, there will be a presentation of “A
Winter’s Tale” by the Pontine Theatre at the Grange, starting at 1
p.m.
The Chichester Library Brings “A Winter Tale” To Chichester
“The
play’s the thing,” and the Pontine Theater is presenting one about
Christmas trees and conflicting family priorities to the Chichester
community on January 11th at the Grange Hall at 1 p.m. This is a
perfect way for the community to get together in the middle of
winter for an afternoon’s enjoyment.
Based on the coast in Maine, the story centers on the fate of two,
beautiful pine trees that have been a part of the landscape for time
in memoriam. If they were to be cut down and sold as lumber in
Boston, the family would certainly gain a great profit. Hence, the
patriarch chooses to do this. However, the family as a group and
the people of the area beseech him to change his mind.
Come to see how this all plays out.
The Pontine Theater “taps the history of New England in its
innovative productions” according to the New Hampshire State Council
on the Arts. The artistic directors Greg Gathers and Marguerite
Mathews, pictured below, spearhead a performance series (their 37th
at the West End Studio Theater in Portsmouth), while also taking
various shows to location.
The Grange is located at 54 Main Street in Chichester. Hope to see
you there!
