Chichester Grange will
be holding their annual Christmas-themed Penny Sale and Soup Lunch
on Saturday, November 12, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Numbers will be
drawn at 1 p.m. The Penny Sale is Christmas-themed, but not limited
to Christmas items. Come and see what “treasures” you can win, and
enjoy some delicious soup as well. Proceeds will go to sponsor a
teenager for Operation Santa Claus.
The November 14 program at the Chichester Historical Society is
“Cherished Items.” Come to the Museum on Main Street at 7 p.m. to
participate in this interactive program. Bring a favorite or
treasured item that has been in your family or that holds special
meaning for you to share with other audience members. Do you have a
childhood toy? A favorite photo? All things have a story just
waiting to be told.
Happy Birthday to Felicia Gelinas and
Brooke Davison on November 11.
Chichester Grange will meet on Wednesday,
November 16, at 7 p.m. upstairs in the Grange Hall.
It’s time again for Socks for Seniors,
sponsored by Chichester Grange. The idea is to collect pairs of
colorful adult-sized socks which will be given to residents of area
nursing homes at Christmas time. While you are out shopping, look
for brightly colored or patterned socks. Buy a pair or two and put
them in the boxes provided at Chichester Library, Pittsfield
Library, or The Attic thrift shop. Let’s see if we can beat last
year’s count of 150 pairs!

Public Library News
We’ve returned to Eastern Standard Time and the darkness of late
Fall and Winter are encroaching. What better time is there to
cuddle up with books! If you missed the last book sale, you
can still come in during regular library hours and shop the shelves
of the Down Under Book Store.
You might also check out the wonderful “Celebrate” cards made by
Chichester’s woodcarver extraordinaire, Laury Nichols. These
cards can be used for so many occasions, that you will want to buy
more than one! (I know that I did!) Laury is donating
the purchase price of the cards to the library, so you will be doing
yourself a favor while also supporting the library. The cost
is $2/card or $10/six cards.
The library will be closed for Veterans’
Day on Friday, November 11th, as we remember and appreciate all of
those who have served our country.
The Library Trustees will be meeting on Monday, November 14th at 4
p.m. This is an open meeting to any resident of Chichester.
Wednesday, November 16th at 7 p.m. is the
meeting of the new book club, where they will be discussing The
Burgess Boys by Elizabeth Strout.
Don’t forget the Memory Café to be held on November 18th at the
Epsom Library.
The library knows people will get
housebound soon enough, even if they have a good stock of books; so,
some programs have been already scheduled over the next few months:
Mark your calendar for December 7th at 7 p.m. to come to the library
and hear Barbara Bald and Beth Fox read from their new book of
poetry. Inspired by the stories of senior citizens, this
collection will also be available to those interested and can be
signed by the authors.
January 7th at 2 p.m. at the Grange will see the return of the
Pontine Theatre. This year’s New England Christmas will be
their original state adaptation of “Captain Eli’s Best Ear.”
Everyone who has attended in the past has enjoyed these productions.
