Spring Clothing Swap
Epsom Bible
Church
In an effort to
help manage the cost of clothing for our community families, the
Epsom Bible Church
will be holding a free clothing swap on Saturday, May 30th, from 9-12 noon at 398 Black Hall Road in Epsom.
You may bring donated clothing beginning at 9:00 am.
All clothes need to be clean and in good repair, and separated by size
and gender.
Both adult and children’s clothing are accepted.
Clothes will be sorted and distributed to tables by the person dropping
them off.
Once clothes have been sorted and distributed, you are free to begin
gathering clothing in the sizes you need.
Any clothing left at the end of the swap will be delivered to a local
charity drop off site. Volunteers for the clothing swap would be
appreciated.
Swap will run from 9:00-12:00 noon.
You do not need to make a clothing donation in order to take clothing
for you and your family.
Call Joanne Randall at 736-4789 for more information or if
you are interested in volunteering.
Letter
Once again the voters of Epsom efficiently cast their ballots and chose
to have their say in the operation of the town. As always, my fellow voters
read over their options, weighed the choices and decided what was best for
the town and themselves. These people, who are wiser than often given credit
for, chose to keep SB2 and going by the estimates, they generously gave the
town roughly a 37% raise that will fortunately only increase taxes about 2%.
While I am happy to give those employed by our emergency services their due,
I can only hope that no one succumbed to the fear tactics that were used by
some to sway voters. For the record, while it may seem logical, a poor
economy in fact does not lead to higher crime. The real fact is that there
is little if any correlation between crime and the economy. Examples,
between 1934 and 1938, during the depression, crime fell over 30% and from
1961 to 1969 unemployment dropped almost 50% yet the crime index nearly
doubled. Perhaps now town leaders will simply take the budget increase
gracefully and not complain as they did with last year’s 15% increase.
