Summer Reading Programs End At Barnstead Library
The 2015 Summer Reading Program at Oscar Foss Memorial Library
was a HUGE success! We had a record breaking year of 146
registrations for our “Every Hero Has a Story” children and teen
program. 86 participants completed the program and a total of
932 books were read! Our program started with two exciting
kick-off events, a music & comedy assembly at the Barnstead
Elementary School with Keith Munslow on June 3rd and a “Hero
Costume Party” here at the library on June 25th. The children
and teens really enjoyed all the “superhero” and other “hero”
themed activities during the six weeks of the program. Our
weekly Summertime Songs & Stories and Arts & Crafts programs
were also well attended and our Toddler Time continued
throughout the summer as well. Children of all ages had a great
time listening to stories, singing and creating many different
projects relating to our “Heroes” theme.
To end our “Every Hero Has a Story” Summer Reading Program this
year we enjoyed a wonderful concert given by the “ABT’s”
children’s music group and afterwards some of the children also
shared their special talents during our “Talent Showcase.” The
children who completed the program also received their awards,
certificates, & surprises, and got to choose their free books.
Everyone who attended also enjoyed an ice cream treat! If you
were unable to attend the celebration, please stop by the
library to pick up your child’s packets & free books by
September 30th. We are also happy to announce that the 33
participants in our “Escape the Ordinary” Adult Summer Reading
Program read a total of 97 books this summer! Congratulations to
all for doing such a fantastic job reading this summer.
The library would like to thank all of our generous sponsors for
