Letter
The holiday season is rapidly approaching and our failing
economy will make this year extremely difficult for many
families.
Food Pantries across the state(nearly 1000 of them) are
dangerously low on food. They depend almost entirely on the
generosity of their local community in order to survive and feed
the unfortunate men, women and children who need their help.
While the NH Food Bank is a good organization, it only serves
1/3 of the state’s food pantries. A sizeable portion of the
donations that they get go to salaried employees and other
overhead costs. Local food pantries on the other hand, don’t
have those expenses because they are run by volunteers.
If you are fortunate enough to be able to donate this year,
please, please, please, donate to your local food pantry! Nearly
every community has one. If you don’t know where yours is
located, ask one of your town officials or your town Welfare
Department.
No man, woman or child should have to go to bed hungry! You
can help to make sure this does not happen by giving whatever
you can to your local pantry.
Your Holiday Season will certainly be more enjoyable knowing
that you did your part in helping to feed needy families within
your own community.
Thank you kindly for your time, and best wishes to you all!!

YOU’RE INVITED!!!
Be A Part of Creating A
Better Pittsfield
The Pittsfield Economic Development Committee invites
residents and business owners to a special ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
MEETING. The EDC has been hard at work seeking input from
Pittsfield area business leaders, as well as developing a number
of ideas to attract more companies and businesses of all
varieties to our town. Put simply, we want your input and
advice!
Our projects are wide-ranging, but our goal is simple:
bring in new businesses to the Pittsfield downtown area and to
complimentary locations on Route 28 in order to give the town an
economic boost and to expand the tax base. From
manufacturing to retail to restaurants, we are hoping to cast a
wide net to bring some new faces to town. But we are also
working on ways in which we can be more helpful to the dozens of
businesses already calling Pittsfield home.
SATURDAY MORNING, OCTOBER 24, 10:00AM-12:00 PM, PITTSFIELD
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
Come join us to hear some of the ideas the Pittsfield EDC is
developing, and be prepared to offer some ideas of your own.
Scott Spradling, of The Spradling Group, will facilitate the
meeting, which aims to serve as a way to get early feedback on
our ideas, but also a brainstorming session for how we can
attract new business to our town. We’re very excited about
the future and want you to be a part of the process. So
please join us and let’s move forward together.
Greater Pittsfield Chamber Of Commerce
The Greater Pittsfield Chamber of Commerce was excited to
hold yet another successful Business After Hours. The event was
sponsored by Appleview Orchard located on Upper City Road in
Pittsfield. They opened their doors to all of the chamber mmbers
and provided a great atmosphere for businesses to interact with
one another.
The evening started with everyone mingling upon the new deck
that was added to Appleview. There were light refreshments
served such as caramel dip for the apples (Yum)!! Free samples
of ice cream were given out to each one of the guests as well!
A tour of the grounds came next. All the members were driven
around the apple orchard on a tractor pulled hay ride!! We had
the chance to see the multitude of apples that this orchard
carries as well as the different varieties. When the tour of the
orchard ended, we were then taken into the area where the cider
is made. It was so neat to see the process that goes into making
such a wonderful drink!
The turn out for this event was 15 to 20 members. Each
Member was able to interact with one another and had the
opportunity to learn about the individual businesses and the
services they offer. Everyone had a wonderful time! You can view
the pictures of this event on The Greater Pittsfield Chamber of
Commerce web site at
www.pittsfieldchamber.org.
We would like to send out a special Thank You to Appleview
Orchard for offering the space for such a fantastic event.
Thanks for giving us the opportunity to see exactly what the
orchard has to offer as well as providing the space to network
our businesses!! For anyone who has not gone to the orchard, you
are missing out, especially on the caramel dip!! It is an
affordable way to have fun and bring you closer to your friends
and family!!
