The Locke Lakers held their Pizza Party August 30th
at Pizza Hut in Rochester, and a good time was had by all.
Saturday, September 12th was our Monkey Golf followed by the pot luck
dinner where the trophy of a very heavy monkey was awarded to the
captain of the first place team, Vi Russell.
October
13th we are planning a luncheon after our 10:00AM meeting at Hart’s
Turkey Farm in Meredith and a shopping trip to the Moultonborough Country
Store after lunch. It was decided to car pool and the the passengers will
pay the driver $2.00 each to help with the gas.
During
the summer months the Locke Lakers held evening meetings so that the
members and people who may want to join and could not attend the morning
meetings, could attend the evening meetings.
Our
next evening meeting will be Wednesday, September 23, 2009, and we
invite you to join us.
The
last fishing trip is September 25th. For more information call Ray
Gilmore at 776-6575.
Some of
the members of Locke Lake Colony are planning a BBQ chicken dinner for
the members of our community September 26, 2009, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at
the lodge. Our last spaghetti dinner was a big success and a lot of fun .
We have a really great menu planned. We are hoping for more neighbors to
meet neighbors. We will also be giving a door prize. You may get your
tickets at the office on Colony Dr. The purpose of these dinners is to
have our members meet their neighbors and bring the colony closer
together. Hope to see many of you there.

BJ Spear And The Dartts
Gospel Quartet To Appear At
Center Barnstead Christian Church
If
variety is the spice of life, than The Dartts are the perfect seasoning
for the appetites of gospel music fans. Without a doubt, there is not
another group in gospel music who sings as broad a variety of musical
styles as The Dartts, including, but not limited to the sounds of
traditional, western, southern, country, Africa, South America,
Caribbean, Hawaii, contemporary, jazz, bluegrass, and even an Irish jig!
Their smooth blend and heartfelt presentation make them a favorite of
folks from the age of 1 to 100.
The
Dartts, along with Billy and Paula Speers, will be in concert at the
Center Barnstead Christian Church on Wednesday evening, September 30th
at 7:00 PM. The Dartts write all of their own music. Tracy Dartt is the
author of the very popular Gospel song, “God On The Mountain”. This, and
many of his other songs have been recorded by some of the world’s top
gospel singers; songs like “The Last Sunday”, “With Him”, and “Your
Blesser Ain’t Never Been Blessed”, to name a few. The group consists of
Tracy, Sharon and Stone Mountain Dartt, and BJ Speer (from the Billy
Speer family of Orlando, Florida). The Dartts travel full time
throughout the USA and Canada, doing around 200 concerts a year in
churches, schools, concert halls, fairs, prisons, etc. For more
information on the Dartts and BJ Spear visit their web sites,
www.darttmusic.com
and www.bjspeer.com
The
whole community is invited to come to this concert. A love offering will
be taken. For more information or if you have any questions, please
contact the church at 269-8831. The Center Barnstead Christian Church is

Old Home Day Congratulates Art/Photo Show Winners
The rain may have put a damper on many of the Barnstead Old Home Day
activities, but thanks to the many talented area residents who submitted
art work and the Oscar Foss Memorial Library who hosted the display, the
Art and Photo Show was able to go on as planned.
“This is only
the third year we’ve had the art and photo show and it just keeps
getting better and better”, said Amy Jennings, coordinator of the Art
Show. This year’s show had close to 50 entries that included
student art, student photography, adult art, adult photography and the
ever popular coloring contest for children. Entries were judged by a
panel of judges with first place and honorable mention ribbons awarded
in each category. In addition, the public was invited to view and vote
for their favorites in the coveted “People’s Choice” category.
Barnstead Old Home Day would like to congratulate the following for
their winning entries: Rebekah Wheeler - First Place coloring,
Lexi Rollins - People’s Choice coloring, Dagny Brown - First Place and
People’s Choice Student Art, Madeline Kriete - First Place
Student Photography, Paige Doucette - People’s Choice Student
Photography, Herbert Winters - First Place and People’s Choice Adult
Photography and Terry Locke - First Place and People’s Choice Adult Art.
Letter
To all friends of the Barnstead Farmers’ Market:
We, at the
Market, would like to thank all of our loyal patrons who
enthusiastically supported the first Barnstead Farmers’ Market, held at
Duane’s Family Farm this summer.
As we move into fall and are busily
preparing the crops for preservation and the grounds for winter’s rest,
we want to send all of you our sincere appreciation for your
encouragement and patronage.
We are now closed for the season. We
look forward to another great summer with the Duane Family Farm in 2010.
Have a wonderful autumn and winter. We hope to see some of you at our
monthly potluck supper/movie nights at the Barnstead Town Hall.
Please watch for COBALD announcements in the Baysider and Suncook Valley
Sun.
With appreciation,
