Belknap County Democrats Elect New Officers
Belknap
County Democrats met in Laconia and elected new officers. They are:
Chairman, Ed Allard of Laconia; Vice-Chairman, Lew Henry of Gilmanton;
Secretary, Lynn Chong of Sanbornton; Treasurer, Dan Moore of New
Hampton; Delegate, Lonnie DeHart of Laconia; and Delegate, Tony Dietrich
of Laconia.
Many
thanks were given to outgoing Secretary Cinde Warmington of Gilford and
outgoing Delegate Gail Morrison of Sanbornton. Formerly, Vice-Chairman
Kenny Bourbeau of Barnstead had left office. The gathering stood to
applaud the work of retiring Sen. Kathy Sgambati, District 4.
Chairman Ed Allard thanks Sanbornton Town Moderator, Rep. Liz Merry, for
her help in conducting the elections. Other business included meeting
new candidates for office, and, with Sen. Deb Reynolds (District 2 towns
- New Hampton, Sanbornton, Meredith, Center Harbor), considering
campaign strategies.
Belknap
County Democrats - including Senate District 4 candidate Andrew Hosmer
and family - marched on Saturday in Tilton-Northfield Old Home Day
parade and look forward to being in numbers in Laconia’s July 4th
parade. All are welcome to join in. The county picnic will be July 18th
at Leavitt Park in Laconia (change of venue from previous years). The
late-afternoon event will be inside at the clubhouse in event of rain.
Chairman Ed Allard, also a candidate for N.H. House, urges
participation, “Let’s all work together for the success of Democrats at
every level this November, and let’s start now by being a presence at
our summer’s public events. We welcome new hands to join us in the
work.” Outgoing Chair, Lynn Chong, recalls, “Ed Allard first joined us
at Belmont’s Old Home Day parade several years ago. These public events
have been good starting points for several, now-active Democrats in our
organization. They also are a lot of fun.”
For
more information, call Ed Allard at 366-2575, and look at

Live Music For All Ages Can Be Enjoyed As Barnstead’s “Summer
Concerts” Continue With The Terrific Band Kid Pinky, On Saturday, July
10th.
Kid Pinky is a retro-style four piece blues band that is
at the same time authentic and unique, without being loud. Accompanied
by three highly talented bluesmen from the New Hampshire area, Kid Pinky
and his Restless Knights are a throwback to a more simple, yet nasty,
kind of blues. Engaging personalities and comfortable volume levels
always make the show FUN, creating an intimacy that makes you feel as
though you are experiencing a private performance in your own living
room.
As
always, bring a blanket, chair, the kids, and prepare to dance, sing
along or just chill to the talents of these awesome artists! Various
local non-profits will be offering refreshments as fundraisers. Thanks
for your support. Come enjoy Kid Pinky from 6-8 p.m., parade grounds on
Parade Road blues that’ll knock you out!
Barnstead-Alton Republicans Announce Gubernatorial Candidates
Forum
The
Barnstead-Alton Republican Committee (BARC) is pleased to announce the
2nd in a series of special events at their July 13, 2010, BARC meeting.
BARC is sponsoring a Gubernatorial Meet the (Republican) Candidates
Forum. Three of the declared Republican candidates for Governor - Jack
Kimball, John Stephen, and Karen Testerman - have committed to attending
this event; they are all seeking the opportunity to go head-to-head
against Governor Lynch (the likely Democrat contender) for his seat in
the corner office at the State Capitol in Concord. Before these
candidates can face Governor Lynch, they must face each other in the
September 14th Republican Primary to determine who will be challenging
Lynch. So, if you’re not sure which gubernatorial candidate you should
vote for in the primary, here’s your opportunity to hear from ALL three
of these candidates at one event.
In
addition, Charlie Arlinghaus, President of The Josiah Bartlett Center
for Public Policy, an independent, non-partisan, public policy research
and educational organization based in Concord, will be the moderator for
the event. Charlie is well-known in political and educational circles
for his quick thinking and off-the-cuff wit.
This
event will be held at J.J. Goodwin’s Restaurant, 769 Suncook Valley
Highway (Rt. 28), Center Barnstead, NH on Tuesday, July 13, at 6 p.m. (a
1/2 hour earlier than the normal start time for BARC meetings) or feel
free to arrive at 5pm for dinner (at your option). All interested
Republicans and Unaffiliated/Independents are invited to attend. For
more information, go to the BARC website at
www.BARC-NewHampshire.com or send an email to
[email protected], or call (603) 364-9780.
