Letter To The Editor
Forsythe Is What We Need

To The Editor:
I am writing this letter in support of Jim Forsythe, Republican Candidate for State Senate District 4. Jim has the competency and integrity we need in our next State Senator, with the most important quality being his ability to make personal sacrifices in order to do the right thing. As a 12-year active duty veteran of the Air Force, Jim gave up his military pension in order to move his family to New Hampshire to be near his wife’s family and start a small business. This was not an easy decision but Jim wanted his children to grow up spending time with their close relatives. Jim and his wife, Sue, of 20 years, decided to homeschool their children at the expense of sacrificing half of their income. Once again, not an easy choice but it was made for the sake of the education of their children. Jim could’ve easily been politically passive when he got to New Hampshire, but he put the time and effort into organizing a taxpayers group in his hometown of Strafford producing great results, and started the NH Republican Liberty PAC in order to help CONSERVATIVE Republicans get elected – raising and spending $30,000 on house races.

Now Jim is running to represent District 4 in the New Hampshire State Senate. Many would wonder why a man who is 41 years of age and has a Ph.D in Aerospace Engineering would run for a position that pays $100 per year. This is because Jim Forsythe is once again willing to make personal sacrifices for the right reasons. No one will work harder to loosen the reigns that the NH government exerted on its people while cutting the irresponsible spending that the majority has imposed at the expense of the taxpayer. Jim Forsythe has stopped at nothing to do what is right for his family and community, and I know that he will do what is right for his constituents. Please join me in voting for Jim Forsythe in the September 14th primary.

Barnstead Library Ends Summer Reading Programs

The Summer Reading programs “Make A Splash/Make Waves” and “Water Your Mind” at the Oscar Foss Memorial Library have officially ended. We would like to congratulate and thank all the participants, adults, teens and children, of both programs. Congratulations to Nicole O’Mara, who won the Adult Raffle Basket and to Kaela Marachildon, who won the Children’s Raffle Basket. Also, we’d like to thank our generous sponsors: Wendy’s of Epsom, for donating frosty vouchers for every child who completed the program and Boondock Video of Barnstead, for donating a $10.00 gift certificate for the Adult Raffle Basket. Thanks to the teen volunteers who made the craft days and ice cream social possible: Celeste Banfill, Brianna Jones, Emerson Doiron and Nicole Fortier.

This year we had 91 children and 54 adults participate in the Reading Programs. As the children recorded their books at the Library, they added a splash sticker to the giant water mural in the Library. The colorful clown fish and surf boards decorated by our summer readers filled our 10 by 12-foot bay window in the children’s section to make a beautiful mural for everyone to enjoy. Our kids  read 926 books during the six weeks and took over 300 challenges for prizes! Congratulations to all our participants this summer and to all the parents and guardians who make it possible for the kids to get to the Library and complete the program. Don’t forget, if you have not picked up your Reading Program certificate packages, they are here waiting for you at the Library. Thank you for helping to make the summer reading program a GREAT success!
