The Faith Formation program at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Pittsfield, is holding Catholic Religious Education Classes for youth, children and adults.

Barnstead Library Celebrates Grandparent’s Day!

 

The Oscar Foss Memorial Library invites children of all ages to come to the library on Friday, September 6th between 2 - 4 pm to create a special “one of a kind” card for those special individuals who help to make their lives complete. Grandparent’s Day is Sunday, September 8th. 

 

September is also “Library Card Sign-Up Month!” So come on down, get a card and “check out” some great literature and all the free services the library has to offer. Please call us at 269-3900 or come see us at the circulation desk if you have questions about any of the programs or events at the library.

 


 

Cooking On A Budget At The Oscar Foss Memorial Library

 

Spice up your dinner with new ideas from renowned chef Liz Barbour on Monday, October 21st at 7 pm the Oscar Foss Memorial Library. This program will include samples and demonstrations of 2 recipes. 

 

Liz’s cooking demonstrations and recipes have been featured on New Hampshire Chronicle, Liz appears regularly on WMUR Channel 9’s “Cooks Corner” and her recipes are featured in various publications including New Hampshire Magazine, the Nashua Telegraph and The Hippo. Space is limited. Call now to sign-up for this Free program.

 

There’s always something happening at the Oscar Foss Memorial Library. Hours: Mon. 2pm – 8pm, Tues. and Wed. 10am – 5pm, Thurs. 5pm – 8pm, Fri. 2pm – 5pm and Sat. 9am – 12pm

 


 

Rally Day

 

Join us this Sunday, September 8th as we kick off a new Sunday School year! We will meet at the church for a 9:00 am Morning Service followed by a time of refreshments.  Then we will make our way up to the baseball fields on Route 126 about 1/2 mile up from the church for some fun games and lunch.   This will be a day of family fun, games, and food.  You are invited to join us for this free event. If you have been looking for a church to attend, come this Sunday and see what we are all about.

Obituaries


 

W. Allen Worden

 

W. Allen Worden, 91, of Province Road, died at his home August 28th following a brief illness. He was born in Shrewsbury, MA. the son of William John  and Mary (Hamm) Worden  and lived in No. Grafton, MA. for many years. He was a heavy equipment mechanic retiring from the E. L. Dauphinais Concrete Co. He was a Navy Veteran during WWII serving in North Africa. He has lived in Barnstead since 1984. 

 

He was a long time member of the Grafton Fire Department. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Pittsfield. He was an avid collector of Lionel Trains and was a member of the 470 Railroad Club in Portland, ME. He enjoyed day trips throughout New England and eating out. Two of his favorite restaurants were the Wells Diner in Wells ME and the Main St. Cafe in Alton with friends such as Ronna and Dawn. In 2010 he traveled to Alaska with his daughter and son in-law for 17 days.

 

He was the widower of Mary (Lacroix) Worden who died in 1989 and Jean (Stone) Worden who died in 1999. Members of his family include a daughter Marilyn Dansereau and her husband David of Barnstead; two grandchildren, Zachery Worden and Amy Dansereau; and a sister, Beverly Denine of Conover, NC. He was predeceased by a son William A. Worden and a granddaughter Beth Dansereau.

 

A Funeral Service was  held Tuesday, Sept 3rd, at 10:00 am at the First Congregational Church of Pittsfield. A Graveside Service followed at the Pine Grove Cemetery, No. Grafton, MA.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The 470 Railroad Club, PO Box 641, Portland ME. 04104 or CRVNA Hospice Program, 30 Pillsbury St. Concord, NH 03301.
