Oscar Foss Memorial Library News

National Library Week 2016

Transform your ideas about the library: come celebrate National Library Week with us April 10th-16th! The Oscar Foss Memorial Library joins libraries in schools, campuses and communities nationwide in celebrating the dynamic changes that are happening in today’s libraries. First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to highlight the changing role of libraries, librarians and library workers.

Libraries of all types, including the Oscar Foss Memorial Library, are evolving to meet the needs of the communities they serve. Today libraries are more about what they do, for and with library users as opposed to what they have for patrons. Libraries aren’t only a place of quiet study, but also creative and engaging community centers where people can collaborate using new technologies, learn new skills, or just relax.

So come in anytime during National Library Week to celebrate with us. We will have special refreshments all week and on Saturday, April 16th we will be offering fun activities for families. We will have DIY library book bags, games and other surprises for the children.

Please call the library (269-3900) or visit our website (oscarfoss.org) for more information about these or any of our other programs or events. There is always something happening at the Oscar Foss Memorial Library! Library Hours are: Monday; 2pm-8pm, Tuesday & Wednesday; 10am-5pm, Thursday; 5pm-8pm, Friday; 2pm-5pm, Saturday; 9am-Noon.
