Letter To The Editor
I am disgusted with the media’s blatant lies regarding the recent tea
parties, and am concerned about the future of a country where the media
chooses to ignore the truth to meet its agenda. The recent Monitor cartoon
“Tea Party Cleanup” was another lie that prompted this letter.
My son, Kellen, a laid-off architect in New York City, was the principal
organizer of the extremely-successful NYC tea party. Through Kellen’s unpaid
and unfunded hard work, he pulled the NYC tea party together. He paid for
the permit out of his dwindling funds and personally stayed after the event
and picked up whatever trash was left by the crowd. Kellen’s hard work paid
off as approximately 12,500 protestors of both political parties attended
the event, with many speakers, including Newt Gingrich.
Expecting objective reporting, I was stunned when I saw the liberal media,
from CNN to the Monitor (and Marland cartoon), totally disregard the truth
and buy into the liberal party line that the tea parties were as sponsored
by rich right-wing Republicans.
The tea party concept has nothing to do with class or party. It’s a
nonpartisan grass roots movement of Americans who are concerned about
government (both parties) fiscal irresponsibility that is burdening future
generations with exploding debt. Ten years ago, the liberal media was
leading the chase against huge deficits. Now that Obama has increased the
deficit to record levels, the silence is deafening. Frighteningly deafening
considering Obama’s projected $9.3 trillion deficit by 2019.
Much of the media has discarded its obligation to Americans to objectively
report the news, instead bowing to political expediency and special
interests. It’s a troubling and scary time when the media can so blatantly
distort the truth without a second thought.

Join us on Thursday, May 14th for an interesting and entertaining program
entitled, “Letters and Diaries from our Archives.” Members and friends will
help bring archival documents to life through “readings.” What was it like
to be on a three-year whaling voyage? Could you strike it rich in the
California gold fields? What did Henry M. Sanborn want sent to him during
the Civil War years? Entries from Rev. H. Franklin Parker’s diaries
describing his courtship and marriage will also be read. These are just a
few of the letters, diaries and stories penned or told by Chichester
residents or years gone-by.
Put Thursday, May 14th on your calendar. Program will be held at the
Chichester Historical Society Museum, 49 Main Street, at 7 p.m. The program
is free and all are welcome. We are known for our scrumptious refreshments.
For information concerning this program or other needs, call Lucille Noel,
798-5709 or Richard Pratt, 798-3151.
