Stephen MacCleery introduces himself at Chichester Grange’s Local Candidates Night on March 3 at the Grange Hall. Also pictured are Fred Shaw, Michael Paveglio, Jamie Pike, and Ruth Hammen. Other candidates present were Sally Kelly, Doug Hall, Donna Chagnon, and Carolee Davison. About fifty citizens were in the hall to hear the introductions and ask questions. As a result of this event it is hoped that voters will be able to connect names on the ballot with faces of real people.

Chichester Food Pantry Fundraiser A Big Success

L-R David Joslyn, Lions Chairperson; James Falzone, President of the Lions Club; Donna Chagnon, Chichester Food Pantry Administrator; Ed Millette, Chairman-Chichester Fire Association.

Epsom-Chichester Lions and the Chichester Fire Association had a lot of joyful fun on January 30 when they joined together to raise funds for the Chichester Food Pantry. The patrons had all they could eat of an extensive breakfast menu cooked by the Lions and served by the Firemen. It was a cold morning, but the atmosphere was warm, cozy, and friendly. Patrons lingered over their coffee and visited with friends.

A big part of the success was the generosity of local merchants toward the project. The following generously donated toward the effort:

Concord Motorsports, L&K Truck Body, Ultimate Auto Body, Eunique’s Antiques, Harris Family Furniture, Dickinson Cycle, Phillips Auto, Showcase Consignments, Landmark Furnishings, Bill’s RV Service, Atlantic Traders, Chichester Massage, Sparks Fly Fireworks, Central NH Animal Care, Car Farm, Austin’s Antiques, Mobil Gas, Big Fish-Little Fish, NorthEast Landscaping, Dominick’s Restaurant, MattressMaker, R-J-K Plumbing, Tractor Supply, Tobacco Use Only, Shirtmasters, Chichester Country Store, Chichester Pet Resort, Angelina’s Restaurant and Abundant Life.

The Chichester Food Pantry was presented with a check for $1300.10 to provide food and necessaries for Chichester families. In addition, the “Yankees” again came together to help those in need in our local town of Chichester.

Chichester Town Library
March Events

During March, Chichester Town Libray is hosting an art show which will feature two local artists. Please drop in and see this amazing show.

Eleanor Graham of Concord has displayed 23 lovely oil painting that vibrate with color. Her travels have given her an appreciation for a wide range of landscapes and seascapes. These local and exotic paintings are truly beautiful. It is obvious that Eleanor loves to paint.

Blaze Konefal calls his work “Studies of Triangles and Steel”. Creativity and retirement allows the exploration of spatial dimensions long thought of. These studies of combined tetrahedrals lift themselves off the ground. Each one varies in shape and shadow as perspective changes. Who says what side is ‘UP”? Consider solids vs. framework; one solidifies space, the other, encloses yet opens it. The natural bending of steel wires trace arcs from a central point; gently waving in space the strands redefine the present.

Part of this show includes a treasure hunt right inside the library. Blaze has hidden 5 stone ladybugs. Drop in, see the show, and find the ladybugs. Our hours are Mon. and Wed., 2:30-8:30; Tues and Thur., 10:30-1:30; Fri., 1:30-4:30; and Sat., 9-12.

Do you want to keep your home computer safe from hackers? On March 18th at 7:00 at the Chichester Central School, the library is hosting a Computer Safety workshop. Local resident, Tom Downey, will be teaching us some common sense things everyone should know about computer safety. Please call the library if you are planning on attending as space is limited. 798-5613.

On Wednesday, March 24th at 6:30, the library is hosting our 5th annual Ukranain Egg Workshop. If you’ve missed it in the past or if you’d like to do it again, call us soon. Once you know how to make these beautiful eggs you will never want to go back to plain colored Easter eggs again. 798-5613.

Chichester Grange

Chichester Grange met at the Grange Hall on Wednesday, March 3, with Master Anne Boisvert presiding. Members balloted upon the application of Kevin Belval and elected him to membership.

Hannah West reported on a very successful Local Candidates’ Night held on March 3. There were about 70 people in attendance, many more than anticipated. Many commented favorably on the event, and it would be worth doing again another year.

Wildlife sightings included a flock of robins, cardinals, nuthatches, tufted titmice, wild turkeys, a chipmunk, and a fisher cat. Several members of Chichester Grange took part in the Winter Youth Rally in Webster on February 20.

The budget for 2010 was approved. Brochures for a bus trip to Washington, D.C., in June to attend the 50th anniversary of the National Grange Building are available.

For the program Walter Sanborn spoke on Chichester Grange History. He talked about Oliver Drake who organized Chichester Grange, and told about how the current building was built by Nathan Fitts and others with the money being raised by forming a stock company.

Following the meeting refreshments served by Ruth Hammen were enjoyed by all.  The next meeting of Chichester Grange will be March 17.
