Out Of Your Attic Thrift Store
Submitted By
Carol Hendee
In our Report of Giving for 2010, it shows that 130 baby
layette bags have been distributed prior to April. What is in a
layette bag and who receives them? The sturdy tote bag contains
a handmade baby quilt, a receiving blanket, 3 baby outfits, 6
onesies, a bib, socks, 6 diapers, baby body wash, a hand knit or
crocheted sweater, hat and booties set, stuffed toy and book. In
the winter, a crocheted blanket and snowsuit are added. These
bags are given out in local communities by the volunteers at the
thrift stores and they are distributed to hospitals and crisis
pregnancy centers in Franklin, Lancaster, Littleton, Plymouth
and Berlin. This is why donations of yarn are always appreciated
as the yarn is used by the volunteers to make by hand the
afghans, sweaters, etc.
The Attic is open Tues.-Thurs.., 8-4 and Sat., 10-4 at 345
Suncook Valley Hgwy., Chichester.

Chichester Grange
Chichester Grange met on June 16 at the Grange Hall with
Master Anne Boisvert presiding. Wildlife sightings included two
foxes, a family of bluebirds, woodchucks, wild turkeys,
red-winged blackbirds, and hummingbirds. Members regretfully
accepted the withdrawal of affiliate membership from Jean
Farnham who has been a great asset to Chichester Grange over the
past few years.
The planting of the flower tubs at Memorial Park is complete
and the watering schedule has begun. Barbara Frangione will
apply fertilizer each Sunday, and others will water the tubs
from Monday through Saturday.
The program was presented by Carolee Davison on the topic of
flags. Members learned about United States Flags and other
flags, with a special emphasis on pirate flags because pirates
are often in the news as well as the movies these days.
Historically pirates used the symbols on their flags to
terrorize ships in hopes of a quick surrender.
Following the meeting refreshments were served by Jean
Farnham and Ginny Azotea.
The next meeting will be the annual
Eat Out on July 21.
Chichester Central Graduation 2010
On June 15, family and friends of Chichester Central
School’s Class of 2010 gathered in the Multi-Purpose Room to
witness their graduation from 8th Grade. Led by 7th graders
Ashley Chapman and Kasey Williams with batons and followed by
7th graders Ryan McGowan and John Sanborn with flags the 8th
Graders marched in to “Pomp and Circumstance.” Class president
Bailey St. Laurent gave the welcome and received laughter and
applause when he remembered to turn on the microphone and begin
his remarks again.
Missing from this year’s schedule of events was the reading
of the Class Will and History. Instead, the many talents of this
class were show-cased in a saxophone solo by Drew Harrison, a
poem composed and read by Shannon Drouse, and a song sung by
Felicia Gelinas and Shelley Swett. Some memorable moments of the
class were covered in the Commencement Address delivered by
Larissa Amour.
The class officers presented the Class Gift, a fine podium
for use at future graduations and other events. Then the room
was darkened for a couple of audio-visual presentations. The
first was a short film “Johnny Reb” made by the 8th grade
history class as a reenactment of the Civil War. The second was
a power point of pictures featuring the members of the
graduating class compiled by Mrs. Dockham.
Principal Pamela Stiles then took the podium for the
presentation of awards. She began by recognizing ten students
who had received high marks in the National Scholastic Challenge
Test: Justin Banks, Marissa Bates, Chris Brown, Renae Currier,
Shannon Drouse, Kara Dugas, Suzanne Fraher, Drew Harrison, Abby
Pinckney, and Dan Swett. Renae Currier was especially recognized
as Chichester Central’s high scorer. Mrs. Stiles then presented
the Michael Booth Award to Justin Banks.
Harvey Harkness of the American Legion Post 112 in Epsom
presented American Legion medals to Marissa Bates and Drew
Harrison. PTO President Carol Frekey-Harkness gave PTO Awards to
Abby Pinckney and Delaney Poirier. Paul Noyes received an award
from the Chichester Central staff for his help with the
audiovisual equipment during the past year.
The Michael Pszonowsky Award was presented by Bea Pszonowsky
to Kegan Bean. The Chris Thomas Award was given to Larissa
Amour. School Board chairperson Nancy Fraher presented the A.
Allan Clark-Freda Jones Award to school volunteer Mrs. Sharon
Dugas. Bailey S. Laurent and Suzanne Fraher received the Irene
Ricker Awards. Emily Merrill was given the Computer Technology
Award by Mrs. Veseskis, the Technology Coordinator. The Kempton
Ricker Award went to Meghan Miller.
This year all three School Board members had children in the
graduating class, so School Board members Ben Brown and John
Poirier joined Chairman Nancy Fraher in assisting Principal
Stiles to present diplomas to: Larissa Amour, Justin Banks,
Marissa Bates, Alyssa Baum, Kegan Bean, Ethan Brooks, Chris
Brown, Sarah Crowell, Renae Currier, Jordan Dahl, William Dio,
Shannon Drouse, Kara Dugas, Suzanne Fraher, Felicia Gelinas,
Casey Gut, Drew Harrison, Kaylie Hickey, Sarah Lee, Brandon
Marsh, Emily Merrill, Meghan Miller, Paul Noyes, Nate Ouellette,
Abby Pinckney, Delaney Poirier, Bailey St. Laurent, Dan Swett,
Shelley Swett, Robby Sykes, and Steph Tumasz.
To end the evening the graduating class, accompanied by
classmate Steph Tumasz on the piano, sang “Farewell to
Chichester” with confidence. The graduates then marched out to
join their guests for refreshments provided by the parents of
the 7th grade class.
