The Cub Scouts of Pack 85 would like to extend a warm welcome to any first through fifth grader interested in trying scouting. We will be hosting an information and sign up night at the Chichester Town Library on Monday, October 15, from 6 to 7 pm. Please drop in and visit with some local leaders to  find out more about Chichester’s awesome scouting program! Questions? Call Karen McCormack at 603-848-7285 or email at [email protected].

Folk Music from the 60s and 70s (remember Bob Dylan, John Denver, Jim Croce, Arlo Guthrie, Pete Seeger and many more) is coming to the Chichester Grange on Friday, October 5th at 7:00. Jackie Richardson, who previously performed with the New Christy Minstrels, and Gary Brandt are bringing a program titled “Singing the Good Old Songs Again.”  They combine great music, humor and stories.  All who come will find this a memorable music experience. The library is sponsoring, but donations are accepted.  Let us know if you can come by calling 798-5613.

In case you are wondering, there will be Trunk or Treating this year on Saturday, October 27, at Carpenter Park. Details will follow closer to the event.

Chichester Grange will be sponsoring a Candidates Night on Thursday, October 11, at 6:30 pm at the Grange/Town Hall. In the past there have often been more candidates than citizens, which is a bit embarrassing. Please set aside the time to come if at all possible. The candidates will introduce themselves and answer questions from the audience. The session will end with light refreshments and mingling.

Drop into the Library and check out their Raffle.

Chichester Grange Master Kevin Belval is the Master Builder of the Children’s Theatre Project’s production of “The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe” to be presented at the Concord City Auditorium on Friday, October 19, at 7 pm and Saturday, October 20, at 2 pm. Chichester Grange Secretary Mary West has helped with the set building. For more information about the production please call 224-4905.

Out Of Your Attic Thrift Shop News
Submitted By Carol Hendee

Do you like to comparison shop? I took a trip to a couple of “thrift stores” and even a big store that sells closeouts. We win in every category. For instance: books, our price  is 25¢ for paperback and hardcover, with a few at 50¢.Their price is 99¢ for paperback and $1.99 and $2.99 even for cookbooks!  Tops, our price is $1.00 for women’s, men’s and children; our name brand rack is $2.00 for most, some a bit more. Their price is $4.99 and up. Sneakers and shoes, our price is $1.00; winter boots, $2.00 and $3.00. Their price is $4.99 and up with some “new” winter boots at $17.99!
We beat everyone’s prices in linens, dishes, glassware and toys.  Also, we have quite the collection of Goose Bumps books on hand for Halloween scary stories and some not scary at all for the younger set.   Even our lamps and appliances are affordably priced.

We are on Route 28 Chichester, near the Pittsfield town line. We’re open Mon. 8-12, Tues. and Thurs. 8-4; Wed. 11-4 and Sat. 10-4 or call 247-7191.
