The Old Home Day Committee will meet on Thursday, June 7, at 6:30 pm
at the Fire Station.
Are you planting your garden? Plant a Row for the Hungry is a unique
community-based program that encourages individual and community
gardeners to plant and donate an extra row of produce to support
your local food pantry. Simply plant an extra row of produce and
donate that to your local food pantry!
Happy Birthday to Josh Duford on June 7 and Brian Menard on June 8.
Doesn’t Memorial Park look lovely! The money spent to buy mulch and
stones and replace the flower tubs came from a donation to
Chichester Grange given by Richard Foss of Gilmanton, a long-term
Grange member who came to Chichester Grange when Catamount Grange in
Pittsfield closed some years ago. The West/Boisvert/Belval family
spread the mulch; Carolee Davison spread the stones; and Barbara
Frangione planted the tubs, as she does each year. The daylilies and
bleeding heart plants by the Veterans Memorial were donated by Julie
Bryant of Millican Nurseries.
If you are driving by the Town Hall you will notice that some of the
windows have been restored and replaced and others have been removed
to be worked on. When the second set of windows is finished, the
grant and donation money will be gone and the rest of the windows
will have to wait for further fund-raising. Donations may be made to
the Chichester Heritage Commission. It costs about $725 to restore a
window. How can you tell which windows have been restored? The paint
on the mullions on the outside of the restored windows is black.
Out Of Your Attic Thrift Shop News
Submitted By Carol Hendee
We set a new record for most miles traveled to visit our Thrift
Shop! Previously, it was a lady from Argentina. This week, a young
couple, traveling across the US before they return to their home,
saw our sign (thank you Dave!) and stopped in to buy a few things
for their young child. They live in Thailand! They are going
to visit thrift stores across the country-hope they like ours the
best!
Some things people have been asking for are shoehorns! (I’m not sure
they still make those); cast iron frying pan, medium size, and
maternity clothes. Pre-baby needs some bathing suits, shorts and
cool tops.
We have some neat wrought iron planters and some older wicker
planters (liners optional.) Lots of books for children, from board
books for babies to books for teens.
Come see us Mon. 8-12, Tues. and Thurs. 8-4, Wed. 11-4 and Sat. 10-4
(we’re like a cool indoor-yard sale) at 345 Suncook Valley Highway,
Chichester.
Cub Scout Pack 85 News
As a part of our Memorial Day observations, the Cub Scouts of Pack
85 in Chichester were honored to replace the flags at the graves of
veterans at all the Chichester cemeteries this past week. We will
also be participating in the town Memorial Day Ceremony on Wednesday
evening at Town Hall.
On Saturday, June 16th the Chichester Cub Scouts will participate in
a flag burning ceremony at the Concord-Epsom Elks Lodge. We invite
Chichester residents with flags that need to be respectfully
disposed of to drop these off at the Chichester Town Library by
Wednesday, June 13th. We will collect the flags and prepare them for
the event.
Residents are also welcome to attend the ceremony at 10 am on the
16th. Mark your calendars; we hope to see you there! If you have any
questions, please call Karen McCormack at 848-7285 or email at
[email protected].
Concord-Epsom Elks 1210 Lodge Presented With Charter From Chichester

Monday evening at the Concord-Epsom Elks 1210 Lodge, Exalted Ruler,
Michael Broderick was presented with the Charter from the Chichester
Cub Scouts Pack 85, along with a Thank You Card the Scouts made.
Presenting the award was Kimberly Mitchell, Pack Committee Chair,
along with Kim’s family, Guy, Kyle, and Colby Mitchell.
Michael Broderick also surprised Kim and her Cub Scouts with an
award that was granted to the lodge for outreach to the community on
behalf of the work the Cub Scouts did in donating snacks, gifts, and
making cards for soldiers in Afghanistan. Kim will be sharing this
with the pack at their June meeting and showing them the award. The
lodge will also have a plaque hanging to depict the award.
Kimberly was thrilled with this! Her comment was "We’re
accomplishing great things as a team!"
Cub Scout Pack 85 would like to extend appreciation to our new
Charter Organization, the Concord-Epsom Elks Lodge. We look forward
to working alongside the Elks to help our local community, the
greater community, and to benefit one another in the process.
