The
Chichester Historical Society’s Third Annual Cemetery Walk will take
place at 2 pm on Sunday, September 9, in the Edgerly-Knowlton
Cemetery on the corner of Horse Corner and Lane Roads. Come and find
out about Augustus Leavitt, the Mason Sisters – Hannah and Mary,
Nathan Fitts, Jesse Garvin, and the Reverend William Swain. Park
along the road as far off the pavement as possible. Carpooling is
encouraged. The ground in the cemetery is very uneven so wear sturdy
walking shoes. Chairs will be available for those who cannot stand
for too long. Refreshments will be served at the Historical Society
Museum on Main Street after the walk.
This is a rain or shine
event. If there is light rain, bring an umbrella. In case of a heavy
downpour the event will be held at the Historical Society Museum on
Main Street.
The Heritage Commission would like to
thank everyone who entered the favorite tree photo contest at Old
Home Day. The picture with the most votes was Julie Raposa’s silver
maple tree in four seasons. The second highest number of votes went
to Bob and Faye McAnney’s “little red maple."
The
Chichester Old Home Day Committee will meet on Thursday, September
13, at 7 pm at the Fire Station.

Library News
The Chichester Library trustees are proud to
announce that we now have a beautiful picnic table for our patrons
to enjoy. It was purchased from book sale proceeds from a NH
craftsman, Ben Jones of Loudon, NH. Ben owns Custom Wood
Creations, has his own sawmill and kiln. You can see samples of what
he can create at
www.customwoodcreationsNH.com. Ben Jones made the table from
“scratch” and finished it with exterior polyurethane so it can be
left outside year round. Come visit and take in the great view
from the library, across the fields (you may see a cow or two) and
see Fort Mt. in Epsom. It’s a great place for a picnic. The
area is a “Carry-In-Carry-Out” facility as there is no trash pickup.
Renovations on the downstairs library continue and the garage
area is open for book sales whenever the library is open-the hours
are: Mon. and Wed,. 2:30-8:30; Tues. and Thurs. 10:00-1:30; Fri.
1:30-4:30; and Sat. 9-12 noon. Our phone is 798-5613.

Your Attic Thrift Shop News Submitted By Carol Hendee
A
big “ thank you” is in order to the “Elves” in Laconia who put
together the back packs for the “back to school project” and to the
people who donated back packs and school supplies. Already 210
backpacks have been delivered to schools in the area and to the
Attic for distribution. This is a number to be proud of. At least
the kids have the tools to start the year right; now it’s their
turn! People from my generation never had to think about the
supplies that are still needed; tissues and hand sanitizer. If you
have extras, we can get them to the classrooms.
We
have some “johnny jumps ups” for babies, strollers, crib mobile and
some baby exercise equipment (things they lay under and look up at
and swat at.)
We have some “just in” dishes to put out and a
good supply of forks, spoons and knives to refill your kitchen
drawers.
We are on Route 28, Chichester, near the
Pittsfield line, in the yellow building with our new neighbor,
Sergeant’s Barber Shop. We’re open Mon. 8-12; Tues. and Thurs.
8-4; Wed. 11-4 and Sat. 10-4. You can call us at 247-7191.
