Before heading out to do your holiday shopping or attend an event,
the Chichester PTO invites you to a Pancake Breakfast on Saturday
December 7th from 8:00 - 10:30 at Chichester Central School. The
cost is $4.00 per adult and $2.00 per child. There will be a parent
free zone for kids to make a gift for someone special (free) and
hopefully if Santa isn’t too busy he will stop by and say hello.
The scholastic book fair will be in the Library, so be sure to
check it out! Happy Holidays from the Chichester PTO.
The Chichester Cub Scouts would like to thank the residents of
Chichester for their generous donations to the Scouting for Food
program. Your generosity will go far in helping families in need.
Chichester’s Christmas tree lighting is being planned for Friday,
December 6, at Carpenter Park. Santa will arrive at 6:45 p.m. and
the tree lights will go on about 7 p.m.
Chichester Grange will meet on Wednesday, December 4, at 7 p.m.
upstairs in the Grange/Town Hall. Members should come prepared with
ideas for planning the programs and events of 2014.

Letter
Chichester Voters,
Smooth running of elections in Chichester is dependent on the
Supervisors of the Checklist having prepared an accurate checklist
of voters. The 3 supervisors are each elected to six year terms.
However, one of our Supervisors, Shirley Waters, passed away this
year and another had resigned.
As Town Moderator, I have the ability and responsibility to appoint
registered Chichester voters to the two vacant positions.
If you have an interest in helping our wonderful democracy work and
have basic computer skills sufficient to enter and edit names in a
database, please consider volunteering to fill one of these
positions.
The Supervisors will have two meetings in January to prepare the
voter list for our March town elections. I would therefore like to
make the two appointments soon.

Chichester Town Library News
The Chichester Photographers’ Group is planning an
exhibit for Chichester amateur and/or professional photographers at
the Chichester Library from mid-January through February of 2014,
entitled “January Blooms.” Anyone interested in participating is
encouraged to review their floral photos now and contact Gail
Laker-Phelps at 798-5394 or
[email protected], as soon as
possible, but no later than December 1st. Also, those interested
are invited to attend the Chichester Photographers’ Group meeting at
the Library on Monday, December 2nd. The number of
prints and frame sizes will be determined by the number of
participants.
The December raffle for the Library is a homemade apple pie from a
renowned Chichester baker. Don’t forget to enter!
Chichester Fire Chief Alan Quimby Receives a $200.00 Donation from
Iron Mike Dempsey, President of the White Mountain Chapter of the
Nam Knights of America Motorcycle Club. The Donation to the
Chichester Fire Fighter Association was made to help the Department
purchase a new Flag Pole.
Chichester Grange
A small but enthusiastic bunch of Grangers met at the Grange Hall on
Wednesday, November 20. In the absence of both Master and Overseer,
Lecturer Alice Hilliard filled the Master’s station.
The wildlife report included many deer who either do not realize
that it is hunting season or feel that they are safer in populated
areas. A flock of robins was sighted in Epsom as well as a group of
about eight cardinals, an unusual occurrence for this territorial
bird.
Hannah West gave a report on the National Grange Convention held in
Manchester, NH, on November 11-16. This was the first time a
National Convention had been in New Hampshire since 1913, when it
was also held in Manchester. The officers of the NH State Grange
conferred the Sixth Degree on Saturday morning. Hannah West was
Lecturer and Anne Boisvert participated in the Rose Drill. On
Saturday afternoon 386 candidates received the Seventh Degree. Mary
West served as soloist and Kevin Belval was one of the candidates.
Maple syrup favors for two of the meal events were bottled by Anne
and Marty Boisvert at Journey’s End Maple Farm. The actual syrup was
a blend of syrup donated by Grangers from around the Northeast
Region and repackaged at Journey’s End.
Answers have been coming in from the letters sent out to
organizations in Chichester inquiring about interest in a public
meeting to promote what these organizations have to offer the
citizens of Chichester. The replies have been favorable, and the
plan will be to hold the event in January or February of 2014,
probably after the budget hearings and before Town Meeting.
The program, presented by Hannah West, highlighted the letter T,
which is the second most used letter in English writing (E is the
first). Members learned how the letter is pronounced for its various
sounds, the history of how it is written, and what T looks like in
Braille, sign language, and flag codes. There were also three songs
and an opportunity to explore words beginning with T in many
categories.
After the meeting all enjoyed pumpkin spice cake provided by Linda
Booth. The next meeting will be the Planning Meeting on December
4th.
