Out Of Your Attic Thrift Shop News

Submitted By Carol Hendee

As it gets colder, we have many requests for men’s flannel shirts and thermal shirts, could also use some heavy men’s socks.

We could use some new pierced earrings; qt size & gallon bags; and if you purchased a quilt or sheets and have a clear plastic bag with a zipper, we can certainly use it!

Please remember-if school is closed due to bad weather, the Attic will also be closed.

We are located at 345 Suncook Valley Hwy (Rte 28) Chichester. Mon. 8-12; Tues. & Thurs. 8-4; Wed. 11-4 & Sat. 10-4.

Chichester Town Library News

Tonight is the CPR class at the Library at 6:30 p.m.  The class is limited, so please call Lisa to see if you can still fit in.  Also, for those who want official certification for successfully completing this class, there is a $20 fee.

Preschool Hour is scheduled for tomorrow, November 13th, at 10:30 a.m.  Any who have attended this program know this is a special, shared time with their little ones.  For next week, local firefighters are coming with their fire truck (as long as they are not on a call).  They do a great program for the preschoolers!

Raffle tickets for the Samantha Parkington American Girl doll are still being sold at the Library, as well as at the Chichester School PTO Fair on November 15th.  You can also sign-up for a Library card, if you don’t already have one; and there will be pamphlets and other information related to the Town available.

The Craft Club for teens and adults is meeting on Monday, November 17th at 6:30 p.m.  Interested residents are encouraged to bring your project(s) and join in the fun.

Lovers of the Chichester Library will meet on Monday, November 17th at 7:30 p.m.  All who are interested in the vitality of the Library are invited.

The Teen Advisory Group is working on their Oral History Project and will meet on Saturday, November 22nd.

Save the 22nd for a holiday book sale in the Down Under section of the Library.  This is a wonderful way to pick up meaningful gifts for minimal costs.

The Library would like to be able to offer its members more new books and DVD’s; however, there are no additional funds available to make these purchases.  Donations, whether in memoriam, to honor someone or as straightforward contribution, will be appreciated.

Please remember the Town Food Pantry as we approach the holidays. Donations will be accepted at the Library.  In addition, the Chichester Photo Group has compiled a calendar, on sale for $20.   The proceeds will be donated to the Food Pantry.  This project is co-sponsored by the Library and orders are being taken at the Library, Town Office and the school.  The last day to order a calendar is Saturday, November 29th.

Chichester Grange

Chichester Grange met at the Grange Hall on Wednesday, November 5. The evening began with a pancake supper. Following the supper the officers for 2015-16 were installed by Hannah West. Then the business meeting was called to order by Master Kevin Belval.

Master Belval gave a report on the annual meeting of the NH State Grange in Nashua on October 23-26. It was an election year and the new Master/President of the NH State Grange is Christopher Heath of Centennial Grange in Barrington. Hannah West has finished her term as NH State Lecturer, but she will still be editor of the State Grange quarterly newspaper. Kevin Belval, Mary West, and Anne Boisvert will be serving on state committees for the ensuing year.

The Dictionary Project is in progress. Chichester dictionaries have been delivered and Pittsfield dictionaries are ready for delivery. Dictionaries for Barnstead are nearly ready for distribution, and dictionaries for Northwood and Epsom will be ordered as soon as the funding comes in. The Grange thanks Ryleigh Simms for her sponsorship of the Pittsfield dictionaries and Disc Golf of Beauty Hill for sponsoring Barnstead this year. The dictionaries are given to third graders each year in cooperation with The Dictionary Project, a national non-profit organization whose aim is to place a dictionary in the hands of every third grader in the United States of America.

The Penny Sale held on November 1st entertained a small but very enthusiastic group of participants and realized eighty-one dollars for the Chichester Grange treasury. Look for another Penny Sale in the Spring.

The project of recycling aluminum cans for Heifer International continues. Thanks to those who have dropped off cans at the West residence. A Christmas collection will help to supplement the recycling money and a donation will be sent to Heifer International in 2015.

Mary West will be investigating a project called “Socks for Seniors.” If it seems like a good fit for Chichester, there will be more information coming out soon.

The next meeting will be held on November 19.

TDS® Bringing 1Gig Internet to Chichester

Customers gain access to fiber network and TDS TV

Before the nearby metro areas of Concord and Manchester get it, residents in Chichester, N.H. are getting access to 1Gbps Internet speed, according to TDS Telecom (TDS®). The company says Gig service is now available for immediate installation, along with TDS TV®, a new Internet Protocol (IP)-based TV service. Chichester is among a handful of New Hampshire communities where TDS is introducing 1Gig Internet service this year.

“The launch of 1Gig service means TDS customers now have access to the fastest Internet service in the nation,” said Matt Apps, manager of Internet Product Management and Development at TDS. “With 1Gig, anything our customers do on the Internet will be incredibly fast. From streaming movies or TV shows to working from home, the experience is ‘lag-less’ and completely seamless.”

The 1Gig service is about one hundred times faster than the national average Internet speed of 10 megabits. With it, customers can transfer HD movies in seconds and connect remotely to their office or telecommute seamlessly, even on multiple devices.

“Having 1 gigabit really opens up new possibilities for telecommuting,” said Apps. “The technology makes it possible for people to enjoy all the benefits of living in a smaller community while working for an employer based in a larger nearby city.”

TDS is offering 1Gig Internet service as part of a TDS TV bundle. Powered by Mediaroom®, TDS TV includes a Connected-Home DVR (which links all TVs together), more than 260 all-digital channels (including 100+ in HD), on-demand TV and movies, pay-per-view, and on-the-go viewing options. Wireless set-top boxes are also available.

Customers with 1Gig bundles will automatically receive Remote PC Support at no additional cost. This service includes unlimited technical support along with device setup assistance, computer cleanup, PC optimization, and advanced Internet troubleshooting.

Residents can find out if their home is part of the 1Gig project area, as well as when service will be available, by visiting TDSfiber.com/where or calling 866-44-TDSTV.
