Chichester Town Library News

Preschool Hour is scheduled for tomorrow, November 20th, at 10:30 a.m.  Any who have attended this program know this is a special, shared time with their little ones.  Local firefighters are coming with their fire truck (as long as they are not on a call).  The little ones always love this program!

Raffle tickets for the Samantha Parkington American Girl doll are still being sold at the Library.  This special raffle includes additional outfits and related storybooks.  Some lucky young person will love to find this gift under the tree!

The Teen Advisory Group is working on their Oral History Project and will meet on Saturday, November 22nd at 10 a.m.

The first of two holiday book sales will be held this Saturday, November 22nd from 9 a.m. to noon in the Down Under section of the Library.  Make a list for everyone who loves to read and bring it with you.

Monday, November 24th, the Down Cellar Writers’ group will meet at 7 p.m.

The Chichester Photo Group will also meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 24th.

Don’t forget the Town Food Pantry as we approach the holidays.  Donations will be accepted at the Library.  Dominick’s restaurant on Rte. 28 is also encouraging and accepting donations for the Chichester Food Pantry.

In addition, the Chichester Photo Group has compiled a calendar, on sale for $20.   The proceeds will be donated to the Food Pantry.  This project is co-sponsored by the Library and orders are being taken at the Library, Town Office and the school.  The last day to order a calendar is Saturday, November 29th.

Journey To Bethlehem

Chichester Journey.jpg

Christine McPhail of Chichester attended the last Journey to Bethlehem with her granddaughter, Cora McPhail of Barnstead, age 6, dressed in period attire.  The free photo was a memento of a special evening.

Chichester Journey 2.jpg

Jennah Johansen, age 7, of Loudon practices to be an angel in the upcoming Journey to Bethlehem.

The Christmas program Journey to Bethlehem will be presented by New Beginnings Church of the Nazarene.  This is a free event for the entire community. The hours run from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, December 12, and Saturday, December 13.  The church will be transformed to be the streets of Bethlehem.  The characters are portrayed by the congregation to be the innkeeper, Mary, Joseph and their new baby along with Roman soldiers, census takers, shopkeepers, and the general citizens of Bethlehem. This is a real Christmas experience for the whole family.

According to Journey to Bethlehem Director, Mike Beevers, “It is better than theater in the round because you are right in the middle of all the action.”  You even are able to dress in period clothing and have a photo taken as a souvenir of the evening.

We want to give our guests the opportunity to visit with the people they’ve read and heard about in the Christmas story. New Beginnings is located at 33 Staniels Road just off Route 106 near the Loudon-Concord line right near the Red Roof Inn.  The building is handicapped accessible.  For more information, call New Beginnings at 224-1311.
