Chichester Library Plans Valentine’s Gift
For Parents and Kids
The Library is planning a special Valentine’s gift for Chichester
parents. A movie night is scheduled for children, age 6 & up on
Friday, February 14th from 6-8:30 p.m. so that parents can go out
for a nice Valentine’s dinner! Kids who come into the
Library are currently voting on what movie they would like to see.
(Hint: So far, the front runner has something to do with things
that fly.) Parents can stay but are not required, as adult
supervision will be provided.
For safety reasons, the Library needs to limit the number children
who can attend to eighteen. There will be a sign-up sheet at the
Library for parents to fill out when leaving their children.
Chichester Grange will meet on Wednesday, February 5, at 7 p.m.
upstairs in the Grange/Town Hall. The program will be “Famous
Children,” so members should come prepared with a few facts to
share.
Come to the “Organization Fair” sponsored by Chichester Grange on
February 7 at 7 p.m. in the Town/Grange Hall. Come and find out
about the various clubs, organizations, etc. that meet right here in
Chichester. Pick up some literature and see if there is a group you
would like to join. No pressure, just information. February 21 is
the snow date or overflow date for this event.
The Chichester Youth Association will be holding their monthly
meeting on Sunday, February 9th, at 6 p.m. in the Grange/Town Hall.
With baseball and softball season right around the corner, please
take this opportunity to stop by a meeting and see what you can do
to help make this a season to remember.
The CYA is accepting registrations for T-Ball,
Baseball and Softball for this coming season. If you have a child
who will be attending Kindergarten in the fall, they are eligible to
play T-Ball this spring. This is a great opportunity for the
children to get to know others with whom they will be going to
school. Registration forms are available @
www.chichesteryouth.com. Please take this
opportunity to get them in ASAP so that teams can be organized and
equipment purchased.
Save the Date: Chichester Youth Association Fundraiser St. Patty’s
Dance will be March 22nd at the Elks Club at 6:30 p.m.
A flock of robins was seen eating holly berries in the bushes near a
house off Route 4 on January 22. On January 23 there was just one
robin eating the berries. We hope they have flown on to a warmer
place.

Charitable Giving 2013 included clothes for elementary school age
children in Haiti; underwear, socks, tees, shorts, tops for boys and
girls; one of our volunteers has a teacher friend that goes to Haiti
every summer to distribute much needed clothing and toys and we were
able to help. They can always use sports equipment: bats, balls, and
gloves.
We were also able to connect with the Cinderella Project: semi
formal and formal attire for ladies who have none, a wedding gown, a
prom gown, and formal dresses.
Rise Again in Loudon received many onesies, 15 pairs of ladies
jeans, and 50 pieces of clothing from our 25˘ rack.
The point is, almost everything you donate finds a new home and gets
reused. You may have no use for that old prom gown, but someone is
quite grateful to receive it.
Still need a wagon to move the heavy bags, or send in lighter bags.
Come see our really nice looking new siding! A nice grey that
looks like real shingles! 345 Suncook Valley Hgway, Chichester; Mon.
8-12; Tues. & Thurs. 8-4; Wed. 11-4; & Sat. 10-4; 247-7191.

When was the last time you enjoyed laughter over a good joke among
friends? The Library is encouraging a fun and tasty time for all
attendees at “Appetizers and Jokes” on Saturday, February 7th, at
6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. While appetizers fuel the night and will
actually be judged by attendees, jokes are optional (but are
certainly encouraged). Everyone who attends will be given three
tickets to vote for their favorite appetizer(s); and, everyone
providing an appetizer is requested to bring a copy of the recipe.
Now is the time to practice your joke-telling and to decide on what
appetizer you can bring to “wow the crowd.” In case the weather
doesn’t cooperate, a snow date has been scheduled for February 21st.
A special Valentine’s Day gift from the Library is being planned.
Please see the separate article on a children’s movie night.
Thanks to all who participate in the Book Sales! Another one is now
planned for February 22nd, from 8 a.m.– 1 p.m. It is expected that
romance novels will be taking center stage, since Valentine’s Day
will have occurred the week before. Who says you can’t buy love?
Up-to-date information and/or reminders often appear on the Library
Face Book page. Please “like” us on Face Book and encourage your
friends to do so, too.
