Thursday, February 5th, is the public hearing on the school budget which will be presented to you for your vote on Saturday, March 7th.  How about joining your neighbors at the public hearing to directly offer the School Board your feedback prior to the final vote?  The Public Hearing on the Chichester School Budget will take place on Thursday, February 5th, at 6 p.m. at the school. Come and make suggestions to the School Board while changes can still be made.

Chichester Grange meets only once in the month of February. That meeting is Wednesday, February 4 at 7 p.m. upstairs in the Grange Hall.

Happy Birthday to Darlene Cavanaugh and Brian Cavanaugh on February 5 and to Cheryl Difronzo on February 8.

Chichester Town Library News

The photography exhibit by Brad Towle will continue through February.  Please come in to see the artistic results of this talented resident.

The current raffle is a Cold Weather Survival Kit, donated by Deb & Randy Harris of the Golden Acres Honey Bee Farm in Chichester.  Included in this package is a beeswax candle, large soup mug & soup mix, beeswax lip balm, Kleenex, hand sanitizer & a few other items.  Raffle tickets will be 3/$1.00.  Thanks to the Golden Acres Honey Bee Farm--what a wonderful item!

Pre-school Story and Craft “Hour” will be continue on February 5th at 10:30 a.m.  This is a great time to share with your young ones.  Barbara Pappas plans and facilitates these activities, and she does a great job!

The Library Trustees will be meeting on Monday, February 9th at 3 p.m.  This is an open meeting and the public is welcomed.

The Craft Club for adults and teens will also be meeting on Monday, February 9th, but at 6:30 p.m.  New members are welcome.

Make Valentine’s Day plans for you and the kids!  The Library is hosting a movie night for the kids, which allows the adults to go out for dinner or just enjoy some quiet time together.  There will be two movies offered, and the evening starts at 6 p.m., finishing up at 8:30 p.m.  Dumbo is being shown for the younger kids or others who might want to see it.  The Boxtrolls is a 2014 animated fantasy-comedy film based on the novel Here Be Monsters! by Alan Snow.   It would be helpful to the Library for you to register the kids, just for planning purposes.

Also, mark your calendars now for the afternoon of March 8th when the Library is bringing New Hampshire’s own Rebecca Rule to the Grange for her program, “Moved and Seconded: Town Meeting in New Hampshire.”  Her humor will entertain us, but we will simultaneously be learning stories of the rituals, traditions and history of town meeting.  Whether you are a newer resident to Chichester or New England, or you are a life-long resident, you will enjoy being regaled by this well-known storyteller.

Out Of Your Attic Thrift Shop News

Submitted By  Carol Hendee

The Attic will once again be a collection point-this time, for the Epsom-Chichester Lions Club, for the month of February.  The Lions Club is having a shoe drive -you can drop off men’s, women’s & kids shoes-NO flip-flops, Crocs, high heels or boots. The Lions Club will sell them to an organization that sends the useable shoes to Africa.  The proceeds of the sale of the shoes will be used to fund a summer camp for children, run by the Lions Club.

We have a man who is looking for a rotary dial phone that plugs into a jack. He has had it with the “tiny little cell phone buttons.”

We have a nice selection of kids socks & tights; long winter scarfs, now .25 each; winter hats also .25 starting Feb. 4th; check Facebook to see what else is on sale.

Rte 28-5 mi. from the Epsom Circle -left side just before the Pittsfield line.  Mon. 8-12; Tues. & Thurs. 8-4; Wed. 11-4; & Sat. 10-4; call if it is snowing-247-7191-as we may have closed for safety reasons.

Planning For The Future Of The Chichester Town Library

As many residents know, Chichester has just participated in a Plan New Hampshire project which focuses on sustainable communities.   A quick picture, literally, of what “Library Corner” would look like incorporates green space in the front of the library and moves parking to the rear of the building.  This would provide for more parking, as well as a more scenic view of the library and of “Library Corner.”

Because of a recent bequest of a long-time Chichester resident, the Chichester Town Library is now in the position of being able to start addressing some current construction/maintenance issues, which then fold right into working towards the vision presented in the Chichester Charrette for Main Street.  However, to do that, a team of people with various skills needs to be assembled.  Some of the main skills needed are project management, civil engineering, construction and landscape design.  More skills will be identified once this team is assembled.

If you have the type of skill(s) needed to move this project forward, from design to implementation, you are requested to contact the Library Trustees, i.e., Carol Hendee, Lucille Noel or Carolee Davison.  You can reach them by e-mailing the Library at [email protected] or calling 798-5613.
