April 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds benefit programs for the
citizens in our area.
The Chichester Grange Youth Night which was postponed from April 1st
will be held on April 29 at 7 p.m. upstairs in the Grange Hall.
Chichester School Board
• Tonight’s monthly meeting begins at 5:30 at the school. We have
invited the selectmen to join us to begin the discussion around an
advisory budget committee.
• 5 residents joined Chairman Ben Brown at the first meeting of the
CCS Energy Study Group on April 6th. The next meeting is scheduled
for April 20th.

Out Of Your Attic Thrift Shop News

Some things that we have in the store you might not have noticed.
We have: Greeting cards 2/25˘; Invitations 25˘ a pack; gift
bags-sm. 25˘; lg 50˘. Party table covers and banners; there is
also a box of wood items for craft purposes.
We also have knee-high nylons, tights for women and girls and two
hamster cages (make an offer). We do have a variety of things, all
donated and returned to you for re-use at low, low prices.

Chichester Town Library News
Thanks to those who supported the first “Down Under” used book sale
of the season. (Thanks, too, to those who go to the Down Under
section of the Library on a continuing basis to select books, even
when there is no sale.) These sales help the Library finance
technology, programs and other things that are not included in the
Town Budget.
Pre-school Story and Craft Hour will meet tomorrow, April 23rd at
10: 30 a.m.
Saturday, April 25th at 7 p.m. is the first movie night for adults
at the Library with The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
Bring your own movie candy and/or soft drink to enjoy this evening
of good fun. If this is a successful event, you can count on more
being planned. See you there!
Monday, April 27th is the Down Under Writers’ Group at 7 p.m.
On Wednesday, April 29th from 3-4:00 p.m., the Lego Club for ages
5-12 will meet. All are welcome!
Wednesday, April 29th at 7:00 p.m., there will be a “Photography
Workshop for Beginners.” Brad Towle, who has been a featured artist
of the month(s), will facilitate this workshop to teach the
fundamentals of photography. Please sign up at the Library.
Thursday, April 30th at 10:30 a.m., is a program on “Honey Bees” to
help children of all ages learn about these fascinating creatures.
Our thanks to the owners of Golden Acres Honey Bee Farm, Deb and
Randy Harris, who will be leading this program.
Chichester Grange
Chichester Grange met at the Grange Hall on Wednesday, April 15.
During the business meeting plans were made for the Annual Awards
Night on May 6 and the Memorial Day Remembrance on May 30. There was
also discussion of a spring Penny Sale.
Fred Carlson was in charge of the program. He told stories about
Cranbury, New Jersey, where he grew up, and well as stories with
Pittsfield, Chichester, and Epsom settings. The stories were
entertaining and also served as a reminder of our historical roots.
The next meeting will be the rescheduled Youth Night, postponed from
April 1 to April 29.
Obituaries
Lois N. Farnsworth
Lois N. Farnsworth, 85, of 13 Kelleys Corner Road passed away April
8 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born Lois Mae Nelson in Quincy, MA to Carl G. and Elizabeth M.
Nelson, Lois grew up in East Braintree, MA, attending Braintree High
School and graduating from Thayer Academy in 1948. In 1952, she
graduated from the University of Massachusetts - Amherst with a B.S.
in Home Economics, and an Education minor. Having been
active in 4-H in her youth, she started her career as an Assistant
4-H Club Agent for the Cooperative Extension Services in Worcester,
MA.
In 1954, Lois married her high school sweetheart, Calvin M.
Farnsworth, with whom she shared a great zest for life, and together
they raised four grateful and loving daughters. After the last
toddler went off to school, she taught and then served as Director
at the Acton Cooperative School, where her daughters had attended
preschool.
Always an enthusiastic volunteer for every activity in which her
girls were involved, including 4-H Club, Girl Scouts of America, and
U.S. Pony Clubs, Lois was considered by many to be a creative
mastermind. When Cal’s career took them to
Davidsonville, MD, Lois enjoyed working in the catalog department at
Sears and took on many volunteer activities. In 1979, Cal and Lois
purchased Clark’s Grain Store in Chichester, NH, where she was
active in the day-to-day business.
A member of the Pittsfield Women of Rotary, Lois was
enthusiastically involved in the design and construction of numerous
annual parade floats and thought of its membership as an extension
of her family. Lois treasured her family and her
friends, and that love was returned to her. The picture of endless
energy, determination, empathy and fun, she will be missed every
single day.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Calvin
M. Farnsworth, and her cherished sister, Carol E. (Nelson)
MacDonald. She is survived by her daughters Susan
Farnsworth of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Nancy Farnsworth Yeaton and
husband Jeremy of Pittsfield, Judy Farnsworth Gough and husband Tom
of Annapolis, MD, and Jane Farnsworth Collins and husband John of
Saginaw, MI, grandchildren Madeline, Jeffrey and Caroline Collins,
and brother Walter E. Nelson of Menlo Park, CA.
A memorial service was held Saturday, April 18, at the First
Congregational Church of Pittsfield. The Rev. David Stasiak,
Pastor, officiated.
