Congratulations to Cassandra M. Langone of Chichester who completed
her baccalaureate studies in graphic design in August at SUNY Oswego
and was recognized with a bachelor of arts degree.
A
student who graduates with honors is indicated by the traditional
Latin phrases summa cum laude, with highest honor (grade averages of
3.8 to 4.0); magna cum laude, with great honor (grade averages of
3.6 to 3.79); and cum laude, with honor (grade averages of 3.30 to
3.59).
The
Chichester School Board meets tonight, September 30th @ 6:30 PM. In
addition to the traditional monthly items, there will be reports
from both the CCS Energy and the Budget Advisory Study Groups. As
always all citizens are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Chichester Town Library News
The
Library would like to welcome Sharon Pinckney to its staff. Sharon
will be assisting Lisa, our Librarian in many of the
responsibilities of the Library. She will also be
compiling the calendar, so group leaders and facilitators are asked
to keep her informed.
Stories
and crafts for preschool and kindergarten age children is scheduled
for tomorrow, Thursday, October 1st, at 10:30 a.m.
The
Down Cellar Book Club will meet on Thursday, October 1st at noon to
discuss The Memory of Running. Please feel free to join this group.
The
Down Cellar Poets’ group will meet on Monday, October 5th, at 7 p.m.
Facilitated by Jimmy Pappas, this group welcomes those poets to
share their work and to network.
Please
make sure you sign up for the needle felting for the adult and teen
craft group, because participation is limited to ten people. Led by
Sharon Strout of Loudon, the meeting will be on October 14th at 6:30
p.m. There will be a $5.00 cost for supplies. Call the Library at

reserve your place.
It may
seem early, but time really does fly. Please mark your calendar for
Saturday, October 24th at 7 p.m. for a family-friendly evening with
Jim Barnes, Balladeer. The program is scheduled for the Grange.
Letter
To The Editor
I am
writing this letter to recognize our amazing librarian and her
excellent library team at the Chichester Town Library.
Lisa
and her colleagues create a warm and welcoming library environment
and consistently go above and beyond in their efforts to meet the
needs of library visitors. Most recently, my dad has been
hospitalized for an extended period and is so ill, he can do nothing
but lie down and rest. My mother and I stopped in at the library to
see if there might be a movie he could watch and enjoy. After
finding out my dad was an avid watcher of MASH and Hogan’s Heroes
each night, Lisa tracked down TV episodes through inter-library loan
services and even purchased some MASH for him to enjoy! We even left
with some comedy films she helped us choose to lighten our own
moods.
Lisa
let us know right away when the films arrived and we were able to
bring a little bit of the comfort of home into the hospital for Dad.
Not being able to eat, drink, or leave his bed, this is truly
something that brings a little smile to his face and a bit of joy
back to his life.
My
family and I are so grateful for the staff at our local library and
want them to know just how blessed we feel to have such a wonderful
place to visit full of caring and helpful ladies!

Letter
To The Editor
First
and foremost, I want to thank Mike, for standing HIS ground, for
doing what’s best for the town, knowing he WAS the only selectman
making a stand for what’s right. Anyone can talk the talk, he’s
proven that he’ll walk the walk.
Second,
I want to thank Jeff, he made a motion last night, (9-22-15) that
passed the board of selectmen, I didn’t like the proposal, but it
was the best solution at the time. More importantly, it’s moving in
the right direction.
Last is
Richard, it appeared to the 20 people or so that went to the
meeting, one of his concerns was the gentleman’s agreement that was
made two weeks ago. Richard didn’t want to look bad in front of
property owner(s), ok to take 60% off the tax bill, wipe the slate
clean, and start over. But, not to worry about doing right with the
town’s best interest.
Not one
person at the meeting last night agreed or supported Richard.
Richard did not vote for Jeff’s motion. But Richard made his own
motion to accept a figure about 40 percent of what is owed, to
include taxes from 2009 to 2014. Thankfully, neither Mike nor Jeff
agreed, so it went nowhere.
One of
the last questions to Richard was, if payment hasn’t been made,
would you vote in favor to take the land, (the attorney’s
recommendation numerous times) and Richard stated, if he was a
gambling man, he would bet on no.
I will
publicly apologize to Jeff, for doubting his intentions.
Richard, everyone at the meeting will always wonder what your
intensions really are. We all know, in this case, it wasn’t the
town, nor the people in town. We all spoke to you, you refused to
listen. Shame on you !

Richard
“Dick” Greene
A
Celebration of the life of Richard “Dick” Greene was held on Sunday,
September 27th at Wesley United Methodist Church, 79 Clinton Street,
Concord, NH. Dickie was adamant that no one should mourn his death —
He’s in a better place — He always said throw a big party. We
certainly know he is dancing with the angels and partying with the
many loved ones that have gone on to heaven before him. Thank you to
the many friends and family members who gathered to celebrate his
memory and share stories, hugs, and food.
Richard, a current resident of Chichester, NH, was born on May 29th,
1946 in Portland, Maine and made his home in Manchester, NH with his
parents Sherman Greene and Gertrude (Ricard) Greene. A long time
member of the Methodist Church, he served as a Sunday school teacher
and a youth group advisor. He was often found out in his garage
tinkering with small engines, obsessively mowing the lawn, or fixing
a friends car. Always ready to help a stranger who broke down on the
side of the road or offer a meal and a couch to sleep on for a
friend down on his luck, Richard lived to serve others. He loved
rock and roll, motorcycles, his many dogs, cats, and even ducks, and
especially his family and friends.

was preceded in death by Sherman and Gertrude Greene, and is
survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Sylvia (Glidden) Greene,
his daughters Dawn Mitchell and Karen McCormack, his son Eric
Greene, his son-in-law Jody McCormack, his grandchildren Iain, Owen,
Lily, and Samantha, and one great grandchild Amillya; his sister,
Judi (Greene) Lanza, his sister-in-law Joan Doucette, and his dear nieces and nephews Adam, Renee, Joseph, Jennifer, and Jeffrey.
