Many thanks to the Chichester Firemen’s Association for lighting the tree at Carpenter Park.  It is a beautiful reminder of the holiday season.

The Socks for Seniors collection will end on December 20. Pairs of brightly colored socks may be left in the boxes at the Chichester Library, the Pittsfield Lilbrary, and The Out Of Your Attic Thrift Shop. The socks will be given to residents of area nursing homes for Christmas as part of the Socks for Seniors program, sponsored by Chichester Grange. Let’s see if we can beat last year’s count.

Chichester Grange will meet on Wednesday, December 21, at 7 p.m. upstairs in the Grange Hall.

Happy Birthday on December 24 to Jordan Davison and Richard Millette.

Chichester Public Library News

Have you stopped by, yet, to see the exhibit of artwork by Chichester Central School students participating in the Currier Outreach Program?  The assemblage of pictures of the Cog Railway is particularly fascinating, showing the similarity of subject, as well as the individuality of each of these young artists.  There’s still time, as the exhibit will continue throughout the month of December.  Kudos to our young artists!

The Knitting Circle meets today at 3:30 p.m.

The pre-school/kindergarten hour is scheduled for Thursday at 10:30 a.m.

Monday, December 19th, is the Lovers of the Chichester Library meeting at 7 p.m.  Newcomers are always welcome.

Wednesday, December 21st at 7 p.m. is the new, Evening Book Club.  The discussion that evening will be on Gaining Ground, by Forrest Prichard.

The holidays are truly around the corner, and the kids and grandkids will be off from school.  Do you have enough books and DVDs for you and the kids?  Stop by to see what the library has for your enjoyment.  You might want to check them out or even buy some books or puzzles from the Down Under Bookstore.  The prices are unbeatable!  Gift certificates are also available.  They make great stocking stuffers.

During vacation, on December 30th from 2-4 p.m., kids from first grade to middle school are invited to join others at the library for “Games Galore.”  Please sign up, so that the appropriate amount of snacks will be available.

Unless otherwise announced or because of particularly inclement weather, Library hours are:  Monday and Wednesday, 2:30-8:30 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m.; Friday, 1:30-4:30 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m.-12 noon.
