REMINDER
Chichester Youth Association is accepting 2016 Baseball, Softball,
and T-Ball registrations now through March 6th. If the registration
is received between March 7th and March 20th, a $10 late fee will
required. No registrations will be accepted after March 20th. Please

The Chichester Heritage Commission will
meet on Thursday, February 18th, at the Town Library starting at 7
p.m. Meetings are open to the public. Anyone interested in historic
preservation is urged to attend.
The local Community Design Charrette team
will meet on Monday, February 22nd, at 7 p.m. in the Historical
Society Museum at 49 Main Street. Anyone interested in moving
forward recommendations in the Plan NH document “A Village Center,
Again” is welcome. Meetings are open to all residents.
The Chichester Youth Association is accepting registrations for

school for K-6th graders. You can also access the form from the CYA

Beef Pot Roast will be served at the
Community Supper on February 24 at the Chichester United Methodist
Parish Hall on Main Street. These suppers are free, but donations
are gratefully accepted and used to buy food for future meals. Come
join your friends and neighbors for food and fellowship.
Chichester Grange meets only once in
February. The next meeting will be March 2.

I was looking at a pamphlet about Home
Composting and saw an article that fit our store, The 4 R’s =
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, REBUY!
So, after you have gone through your house and figured out what to
give away, think of the Attic as a place to recycle clothing, shoes,
small appliances, books, or athletic gear (nothing large or
computer related please.) During the next couple of weeks to
“reduce” our inventory, winter jackets, drinking glasses, and all
dolls will be 1/2 price. Hopefully spring is on the way and we
can put out new donations!

Chichester Town Library News
The Library is pleased to announce the acquisition of the book,
Holocaust to Healing: Closing the Circle, by Kati Preston.
Kati is a resident of nearby Barnstead and is a Holocaust survivor.
From the horrific experiences of that time and continuing on in
life, Ms. Preston brings a story of not only persecution and
adversity, but also of love, triumph and peace.
On Sunday, February 21st at 2 p.m., the inspirational Randy Pierce
of Vision Quest 20/20 will bring his story to the Chichester Grange,
54 Main Street in Chichester. He climbs mountains, like some
of us might climb a long flight of stairs. He has climbed the
White Mountains and recently climbed Mount Kilimanjaro.
Randy’s experiences from losing his vision to conquering mountains
is educational, as well as motivational. Randy hopes to bring
his perspective to us, as well as his support for two of his
favorite non-profit organizations: the New Hampshire Association for
the Blind and Guiding Eyes for the Blind.
The Down Cellar Writers will meet on
Monday, February 22nd at 7 p.m.

Sophomore, Hana Testerman, of Chichester is congratulated by
District 5 Adjutant, Gerard A. Le Duc for winning the American
Legion District 5 High School Oratorical Contest. The contest was
held at Faith Community Bible Church in London, February 6, 2016.

Dear Chichester Voters,
As a candidate for selectman, I want to
share some of my experience I feel would be beneficial towards the
position of selectman.
I am a professional engineer, and in my career at the Department of
Transportation I manage municipal projects that range from about 1
to 10 million dollars. As most of you know State and Federal
budgets are tight and I have to make sure projects stay on budget
and are built on time. I work directly with municipal
government and see first hand the issues they face on a daily basis.
I feel that my experience dealing with managing large budgets and my
understanding of municipal government will allow me to step into the
role of selectman and be able to understand the complexity of
governing a small town. I have also been a volunteer at the
school, the library, and recently at the park, helping to build the
new community building. That experience showed me how many
dedicated and wonderful people live in this town and are willing to
help out to make it even better. With strong volunteerism we can
continue to make this town a better place without asking for
additional revenue.
I hope you consider voting for me for
selectman, but more importantly, I hope you get out and vote.

Letter To The Editor
I think it deplorable when Selectmen choose not to support its
Planning Board with a Warrant Article Recommendation to seek funds
to update its Master Plan. It pains me to see that one
particular selectman generally supporting the fire department for
any and all requests, at times work that could be completed by
volunteers, yet he questions and often stifles requests by other
departments, committees/commissions.
Obviously the Planning Board has not had enough active members to
update the 2002 Master Plan which, in itself, deems the need for
assistance. Every town board is comprised of volunteers
- volunteers who take time from their personal lives to fulfill
their duties. Regular meetings and hearings not only take time but
require additional reading, research, discussion, preparation.
Special duties are even more time-consuming. There are times
when there isn’t a quorum which results in no action.
The Town of Chichester has had many legal issues throughout the last
several years, some of which could have been quickly resolved if
ordinances had been up-to-date. Costly legal issues will
continue to arise if we are not prepared. The Planning Board
should have funding to update its Master Plan which is the very
foundation for Chichester zoning ordinances and controlled growth.
NH RSA 674:1, I. “…Every planning board shall from time to time
update and amend the adopted master plan with funds appropriated for
that purpose by the local legislative body.”
During the budget process selectmen agreed to add $2,000 toward old
home day fireworks. In spite of the quoted RSA, Planning
Board’s commitment to update and the Budget Committee’s affirmative
vote, the selectmen voted “nay.” Something is drastically
wrong with Chichester’s local governmental system when its concern
to satisfy some 100 fireworks onlookers overrides its concern for
all 2,500 residents and the town’s future!

Multicultural Fair
On Thursday, Feb, 18, Chichester Central School will hold the annual
Multicultural Fair. Students have been studying cultures and
historical landmarks from around the world and are excited to share
what they have learned with our families. Be prepared to view
a replica of the Great Wall of China, journey into an Ice Castle
from Sweden, and learn about mask making in some African nations.
Parking is always limited during the winter months so we are asking
families to carpool for our event. A shuttle bus will also be
provided from the Chichester town offices to the school to help with
overflow parking. Potluck dinner begins at 5 PM in the gym,
followed by a student presentation at 5:45 and the classroom tours
run from 6-7 PM. Bring your passport and travel the world in
one night!
School District Meeting
The Chichester School District meeting will be held on Saturday,
March 5 starting at 9 AM at the Chichester Central School. At
this meeting, all citizens participate in the 2016-17 school budget
process by learning about the proposed budget and voting on the
budget. All citizens, parents and community members should
attend this meeting as it affects the programs and offerings for the
Chichester School District.

Kindergarten/New Grade 1
2016-2017 Registration Dates
Do you have a kindergarten child or first grader new to Chichester
Central School entering in the fall of 2016 and are unsure of what
to do? Kindergarten/New Grade 1 registration will begin on
March 1st and run until April 22nd. Parents/Guardians must
stop by Chichester Central School to pick up a registration packet
and will need to return the completed package in person to school by
April 22nd. Parents will be asked to supply a copy of their
child’s birth certificate & immunizations, parents/guardians
driver’s license, and proof of residency in Chichester. The
age requirements for entry is age 5 (kindergarten) and age 6 (grade
1) by September 30. School hours for registration pick up and
drop off are between 7:30-3:15, Monday-Friday.
Children will go through a screening process in May that will allow
the kindergarten committee to assess abilities so that the morning &
afternoon classes will be evenly balanced. Transportation is
provided to school in the morning and to home at 2:40 (there is no
mid-day transportation). The New Morning Program does provide
an on-site before school and after 2:40 care program for a minimal
