Town Library News
The summer has gone by so quickly! But, the Library continues
to be busy and offer a variety of activities to the residents of
Chichester and neighboring towns.
The Library will be closed on Saturday, the 20th, because we will be
present for Old Home Day. Lisa, our inimitable librarian, will
be showing the documentary, “Pieces of the Past,” a living history
production by the Teen Advisory Group. (See separate article
for additional information, please.) There will also be other
treats, so make sure you check us out!
The Down Cellar Writers are scheduled to
meet on Monday, August 22nd, at 7 p.m.
The Summer Reading Program is wrapping up, so make sure all of the
reading hours are registered. The last event is scheduled for
Friday, August 26th, 7 p.m., at the Historical Society, where there
will be games and activities from a by-gone era, a scavenger hunt
and an ice cream social. Raffle prizes will also be presented.
Don’t forget the Down Under Book Sale on Saturday, August 27th, from
8 a.m.-1 p.m. This will also incorporate a Farmers’ Market,
cosponsored by the Grange and the Library from 8 a.m. to noon, rain
or shine, in the Grange parking lot.
“Pieces Of The
Past”
A Living History
Documentary
There may not be a red carpet, but there probably should be, for the
premier of “Pieces of the Past” at the Chichester Old Home Day
(August 20th) celebration at the pavilion in Carpenter Park.
The Teen Advisory Group of the Chichester Library has spent numerous
hours and many months producing this documentary, including
gathering the stories of a number of Chichester residents who can
teach us a thing or two about the history of Chichester and, in
fact, about life itself.
The Chichester residents who are featured
include: Nancy Agular, Eleanor Corlise, Carolee Davison, Daisy Day,
Al and Priscilla Davidson, Barbara Frangione, Mardy Friary, Ruth
Hammon, Dick Pratt, John and Kay Snow and Bill Zarakota.
The primary film producers are Sarah Miner, Emily Allen, Hanna
Testerman and Mikayla Cadorette, members of the Teen Advisory Group.
Also contributing were Luke Jameson and Katy Jo Cummings.
The group learned all of the aspects of the endeavor, including how
to use the camera that was purchased for their use, how to conduct
the interviews, and even how to use that “cutting room,” where they
condensed the production from over 2 ½ hours of interviews into the
final ½ half movie.
We know that some of these talented and dedicated film producers
will be present at the premiere to share their personal experiences,
as well as to discuss the film. In addition, it is our
understanding that there will be a limited number of “swag bags” to
be handed out that include a sweet treat.
There is one item needed to help with this event: a stand-alone
screen. This will aid in better viewing by all. Please
call Lisa at 798-5613, if you can help out in this regard.
