Epsom Fire Auxiliary Asks For Your Recipes
Calling all cooks. Do you have a favorite recipe you would like
to share.
Send your favorite recipes to be included in our cookbook for
the Epsom Fire Auxiliary. You can drop off your recipes at Care
Pharmacy, Curves of Epsom and the Epsom Library. If you prefer
to send via email send to:
[email protected]. The deadline for the recipes will be
Sept. 15th. So be a part of this worthy fundraiser. The
Auxiliary assists behind the scenes in serious fires and
emergencies, and we raise funds for the emergency supplies. All
are welcome to attend our meetings. It is a wonderful
opportunity to be involved in the community!
Town Office Committee
The Town of Epsom is asking for volunteer members of a new Town
Office Building Committee. We are looking for residents of Epsom
with interest in helping the Town develop a sound plan for
providing the most cost effective Town Office space needs.
Helpful background might include government service,
architectural, engineering, drafting, communication, real
estate, municipal finance. Members must be willing to work
cooperatively in an objective manner with other committee
members and town officials. This is an entirely volunteer
position with no working budget. The new ETOBC would reevaluate,
update, and move forward with the findings in the report
prepared by the last committee (FEASIBILITY REPORT FOR THE
DEVELOPMENT OF NEW TOWN OFFICE dated JANUARY 2, 2007).
If you are interested in volunteering or have questions, please
call the Town Office at 736-9002.
Reception At Epsom Public Library
On Friday, August 29, from 7 to 9 P.M., the Epsom Public Library
will host a reception for well-known photographer, Hans Wendler,
whose work is currently on exhibit in the library gallery. The
public is cordially invited to meet Mr. Wendler as well as to
view his work at this very special event. Also on hand will be
Epsom’s Charles Yeaton, whose comprehensive and fascinating
collection of early New Hampshire-made tools is currently being
featured in the lobby display cases. For further information,
please call 736-9920.
Fall Clothing Swap At The Epsom Bible Church
In an effort to help manage the cost of clothing for our
community families, the Epsom Bible Church will be holding a
free clothing swap on Saturday, September 27, from 9-12 noon at
398 Black Hall Road in Epsom. You may bring donated clothing
beginning at 9:00 am. All clothes need to be clean and in good
repair, and separated by size and gender. Both adult and
children’s clothing are accepted. Clothes will be sorted and
distributed to tables by the person dropping them off. Once
clothes have been sorted and distributed, you are free to begin
gathering clothing in the sizes you need. Any clothing left at
the end of the swap will be delivered to a local charity drop
off site. Volunteers for clothing drop-off would be appreciated.
Swap will run from 9:00-12:00 noon. You do not need to make a
clothing donation in order to take clothing for you and your
family. Call Joanne Randall at 736-4789 for more information or
if you are interested in volunteering.
Merrimack County DUI Task Force Sobriety CheckPoint
Submitted By Chief Wayne B. Preve
As a result of the increasing incidents of drinking and driving,
the Allenstown Police Department in cooperation with the
Pembroke Police Department, Epsom Police Department, Chichester
Police Department, Bow Police Department and the Merrimack
County Sheriff’s Office applied for, and was granted, a Superior
Court Petition to conduct a Sobriety Checkpoint. The “Sobriety
Checkpoint” is the most effective method of detecting and
apprehending the impaired operator.
The program, approved by the NH Highway Safety Agency and the
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, provides federal
highway safety funds to support these checkpoints, which will be
conducted in Allenstown.
A review of records has shown that the use of alcohol by
individuals who operate motor vehicles has resulted in an
alarming number of deaths and personal injury accidents.
Therefore, in an effort to maintain safe roads in Epsom, the
Merrimack County DUI Task Force will be conducting a Sobriety
Checkpoint in the Epsom area this week. (The week of Aug. 18.)
The purpose of the Sobriety Checkpoint is to detect and
apprehend the impaired driver. Epsom Police Chief Wayne Preve
and Merrimack County Sheriff Scott Hillard have taken an
aggressive stance to prevent persons from driving when
intoxicated. New Hampshire has some of the most aggressive laws
in the country to fight the intoxicated driver and the law
enforcement community will use those tools to their full extent.
