Valley Artisans Artist For The Month Of June
The
Artist for June is Ed Serino. He has been a Juried Member for 2 1/2
seasons and makes beautiful art glass pieces.
25
yrs. ago he took stained glass classes and after creating stained
glass projects for family and friends he wanted to try something new
with glass. He took a class in fused glass in the early part of 2007
and was hooked. He purchased an electric kiln and started creating
fused glass items such as; plates, candle holders, vases, bowls,
etc. Then he started making empty wine bottles into cheese and
cracker sets. He is also designing and combining glass jewelry
earrings, pendants and necklaces with sterling silver.
His
latest adventure has been with Dicroic Glass, the refractive
qualities are stunning, and when used in jewelry it picks up the
colors of what a person is wearing and magnifies as well as enhances
the quality of the glass.
In
November of 2007 he was juried into Valley Artisans and we have
enjoyed his work ever since. Come to our historic building where
there are over 30 juried Artisans selling their gorgeous creations.
Every month one of our Members offers an item that they make for our
free raffle. Ed will be offering one of his gorgeous glass art items
for this raffle.
If
you or someone you know has a creative ability and would like to
sell their items, please come to Valley Artisans and become a juried

Local Concord Area Fitness Bootcamp Crowns
Biggest Winner
Epsom, NH, based Get Fit NH Bootcamp awards $1100 prize
package to the winner of the “Sizzlin’ Summer Slimdown”
lean body transformation contest.
Get Fit NH Bootcamp, recently voted the Best Gym in
Concord, has run amazing fitness transformation contests
in the past, and the latest was their best ever. The “Sizzlin’
Summer Slimdown” contestants lost a whopping 350 pounds
over the 8 week period, with the winner carving 10.9% of
body weight off her frame in that time.
While S3 winner Melissa Tyler was thrilled to lose
the weight and get into “Summertime Shape”, the contest
also made a positive impact on her family. “My husband
did the nutrition plan with me. We started packing his
snacks and meals to take to work and we saved a ton of
money. He also lost 20 pounds!”
Everybody knows that it’s difficult to find the
motivation to both get into shape and to stay in shape.
Friendly competition can provide a powerful incentive to
push some people to achieve things far beyond their
wildest fitness aspirations. Nancy Carlson, co-owner of
Get Fit NH Bootcamp says “It’s great to get a group of
motivated people together to work diligently to achieve
something extraordinary. Seeing the tremendous progress
others in the contest were making helped keep people on
track. Our second place winner Karl actually lost 34
pounds in 8 weeks, which is incredible.”
For winning the contest Melissa earned her prize
package worth over $1100, including 3 free months of Get
Fit NH Bootcamp, a 4-week membership to the Milk & Honey
Farm CSA, massage from Chichester Massage, a month of
tanning at Tanorama of Concord, an image makeover from

Letter
To my constituents in Allenstown, Epsom, & Pittsfield:
My four Committees of Conference (C of C) all managed to
reach consensus. The hardest was SB313, extending the
life of the State Park Advisory Council. The House had
added a sunset provision, required entrance fees to
Jericho Mountain ATV park and applied that the current
size provisions for ATVs to UTVs (utility terrain
vehicles). The Senators were concerned that the
unfinished ATV park could not collect them immediately,
and an ATV festival this summer had been widely
advertised as free. We agreed that the parks would
collect entrance donations immediately, and start
collecting fees next year. The UTV limits were accepted,
since the parks accept the current size and weight
limits. The House agreed to extend the sunset provisions
by a year, to allow for completion of several studies.
The C of C on SB478, on the board of home inspectors
and the plumbers’ board, was the easiest: the senators
merely needed assurance the House had thought through
our changes. The C of C on SB491, on state procurement
policy, was simple: they just requested a clarifying
amendment.
The C of C on HB651, regulation of
private investigators, also required getting together.
The Senate had required any licensee to immediately
notify the commissioner when arrested, rather than the
House’s 10 days; we settled on one working day. The
inflammatory phrase “attorney-client privilege” was
deleted and a simpler clause limited an investigator’s
requirement to report any crimes discovered during an
investigation. The Senate had deleted this provision,
but the House felt it was necessary to protect the
integrity of any investigation made on behalf of a
defendant.
Anyone interested in what’s going on at
the State House is invited to email or call me; those
who’d like a more detailed report than I can fit in The
Sun should email me for my newsletter.
