Winter
Is Here! And So Are We At Loudon Food Pantry
During the holidays, people are very generous and for that, we are
very thankful. The holidays are over and it’s time to get back
to our normal lives and routines. I ask that as you do so,
please don’t leave that holiday generosity behind.
Soon we will be in
what we call our “slow season”. It is the time of year when
funds and donations drop off and it is very difficult to keep enough
funds and food in stock to feed the 100 plus households that come in
to our pantry on a weekly basis.
So
please, keep that holiday spirit and generosity going all year long.
Households in need don’t just need to eat on the holiday, but year
around as well. During the school year children are fed at
school utilizing subsidized programs. They don’t have that
advantage during the summer.
If you’re in need please call us at (603) 724-9731
to book an appointment. If you want to donate, we are at 30
Chichester Rd., Loudon NH Monday through Thursday from 10 AM – 5 PM
(Wednesdays until 6 PM).
With your generosity and our hard work,
we can give our neighbors, family, and co-workers that are in need
something positive in their lives.
Letter
To my constituents in Allenstown, Epsom, and Pittsfield: The new
legislative session has started, and since I am now chair of my
committee, I have been busy organizing. This week, we heard HB 92,
revising expiration dates for forester’s licenses, and HB 119,
allowing agency heads to name delegates to an information technology
council. Both are very simple bills that are likely to pass.
I am
also now on the committee that reviews and approves the rules
written by other parts of the state government; this is critical,
because these rules have the force of law. At my first meeting, the
committee held up new rules for the Board of Mental Health because
the rules showed a conflict between the laws on patient privacy and
the rules on investigation.
The Representatives for Epsom met
with the Selectboard this week, along with Senator Barnes,
Representatives Giuda and McDonnell from Chichester, and delegates
from the state Department of Environmental Services. Representative
Giuda is the lead sponsor of a bill to stabilize the Suncook River,
since the sand and silt being carried downstream are exacerbating
the flooding problems in Allenstown and Epsom. The DES contingent
described their plans, which include a great many short term tasks
and meetings. Dan, Jon Richardson and I are working with
Representative Giuda and the other Chichester Representatives to
identify possible supporters and funding sources for his bill.
Dan is on the Finance committee, which has direct responsibility for
the state budget. The rest of the Legislature is working on
everything else.
