Epsom
Roadside Clean-up Submitted By Alison Parodi-Bieling,
Epsom Conservation Commission
Found gold bracelet, beer, liquor,
soda, cigarette, coffee and fast food containers. Roadside clean-up
pays off. After 20 years of picking up trash in my neighborhood the
amount of trash has declined and that is a good thing, The first
year I participated I filled 12 large bags with trash, a box
full of car parts and numerous tires. This year the same area only
yielded 5 bags of mostly beer cans in a 2 mile area.
Every year
The Epsom Conservation Commission encourages you to get out and
clean-up roadside trash in Epsom. This year those who send in
information to the commission will receive a lilac bush, from Litter
Free NH, for participating. By May 15th send in where you cleaned
up, how much and what kind of trash you found and who helped to
[email protected] or the Epsom Conservation Commission
PO Box 10 Epsom, NH 03234.
If you lost a gold bracelet, describe
it and it will be returned. Sometimes we litter inadvertently. I
even found one of my own gloves down the road this year. I must have
dropped it when I was cross country skiing on the road. So won’t you
do your part? Seeing litter free roads is a gift to us all.
The Cub
Scouts of Pack 85 enjoyed an awesome morning of racing at this
year’s Pinewood Derby. Special thanks to Panera Bread of Concord,
Great State Beverages of Hooksett, and S and D Coffee for providing
refreshments; Chucksters and Frekey’s Dairy Freeze for providing
prizes for participants and top racers; Sears of Concord for
sponsoring trophies and other event expenses; and to the Town of
Chichester for providing us with the Grange Hall. Great State
Beverages also provided the pack with an impressive customized
racing banner that we will enjoy for years to come. It is
wonderful to experience the generosity and support of our local
community. This was our second derby event with our new track and
timer provided by donations from local businesses including: The
Ladies Benevolent Society, Central NH Animal Care, Frekey’s, S and D
Coffee, Mattress Maker, Tim’s Truck Capital, Car Farm, Chichester
Mobile, Showcase Consignments, Wingnuts, Phillips Auto, Concord
Motorsport, Northeastern Power Equipment, and Harris Family
Furniture. We thank you again for your support of our local scouts!
