REMINDER
Epsom Central School 8th grade students will be holding a car wash
at the Epsom Fire Department on Route 4 in Epsom. The car wash
will be held on Saturday, August 20th from 11-2. The event
benefits the ECS students’ trip to Washington DC.
Local Man Is Honored With Boston Celtics Heroes Among Us
Award
On
Monday, August 1st at a special State House ceremony, Dave Cummings
of Epsom, NH was honored as a 2010-11 Boston Celtics Heroes Among Us
recipient.
Along with the other 2010-11 Hero recipients, Dave was recognized by
Celtics legends Bob Cousy and Tom “Satch” Sanders, Massachusetts
State Treasurer Steven Grossman, and Celtics Managing Partner and
Governor Wyc Grousbeck.
Dave was initially honored during the December 31, 2010 Boston
Celtics home game vs. the New Orleans Hornets for dedicating his
life in support of our troops. He set his sights on shooting
an incredible 1 million free throws while collecting donations and
raising awareness for the needs of our soldiers.
Dubbing his quest “Hoops for Heroes,” Dave spends a few hours every
day shooting foul shots in local gyms. So far, Dave has made over
560,000 free throws and has generated over $42,000 dollars in
donations to benefit the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.
