Valley Artisans Artists For The Month Of September
We are highlighting two of our talented artists this month. Each
will be donating an item that they made to our free raffle.
First, Holly Baum is a fiber artist from Henniker who works with a
variety of fabrics and trims to create unique and functional items.
She started sewing as a young girl and has spent many years sewing
clothing, home decor and quilting. Most recently, her focus has
been on creating one-of-a-kind items for women including handbags,
purses, jewelry cases and cosmetic bags. Some of her unique
accessories include beaded flowers (pins and hair decoratives for
both women and babies) and delicate, lacy scarves made from ribbons.
She has a new line of eReader and iPad cases in traditional or
whimsical fabrics. This month she has a seasonal selection of table
runners with apples, pumpkins and harvest themes, plus cozy flannel
quilts for babies.
Jan Hoadley from Epsom is our second artist. Since retiring from
teaching a few years ago, she enjoys weaving reed baskets as a
hobby. Jan’s baskets are both decorative and useful, handcrafted in
a variety of styles, shapes and sizes. They are made from quality
reed, using different techniques many including color.
Our hours are 10 am to 6 pm from Wednesday through Sunday. Our
phone number is 736-8200. We are located at 10 Goboro Rd. Epsom,
N.H. We are right off Route 4/202, near the Epsom traffic circle.
You can also find us on Facebook... See you soon.
Letter
To my constituents in Allenstown, Epsom, and Pittsfield:
With the summer ending, legislative business has started again. The
Agriculture committee met this week on my HB608, dealing with small
farmers selling uninspected chickens and rabbits to restaurants.
Since the agricultural laws already allow this, the committee has
been dealing with the public health division, whose restaurant rules
forbid buying! Fortunately for chefs who want to prepare fresh,
local meat, (and their suppliers and customers!) the committee has
reached agreement in principle with the public health officials for
limited sales with notification to consumers. It’s more bureaucratic
than I proposed, but it looks as though it will pass the legislature
and be adopted.
I’m working on bills for next year: the filing season is through
September 27. I plan to have many fewer bills than last year, so I
can do justice to them. There’s one on EMT licensing, one on
parents’ responsibility for adult children drinking, one on
handicapped plates for motorcycles, and one on continuing education
for professional engineers: all requested by constituents. If you
have an issue with state laws or rules, please call and talk with me
or Dan. Even if it’s an area we aren’t familiar with, we can help
you find a more experienced sponsor.
Interested readers can email me for my newsletter, with more details
than can fit here.
