REMINDER

Awana Clubs at Epsom Bible Church will begin our 2015-2016 season on Thursday night September 17th. This will be our 29th year of having Awana Clubs and we are thankful for the things God has accomplished through this program in previous years.

Our Clubs are open to all children in the Epsom area, and we would love to have your children attend. You do not need to be a member of, or attend, Epsom Bible Church, for your children to attend. Come to Club on the 17th or any Thursday evening thereafter between 6:15 and 6:30 PM. Club starts at 6:30 and we end the evening at 8:00. Epsom Bible Church is at 398 Black Hall Road, approximately 3/4 mile past the Epsom Central School on the same side of the road (look for the big sign out front). If you have any questions or would like more information call Kim or Paul Sanborn at 798-5050 or email at: [email protected].

On Wednesday, September 23 at 7:00 PM the Epsom Public Library will host Fred Marple as he brings his one-man show of Yankee humor, music and assorted nonsense to the Library.  Marple is the unofficial spokesman for the mythical town of Frost Heaves, NH, and he’s on a one-man campaign to put Frost Heaves back on the map. “It’s a one-man crusade because everyone else has real jobs,” says Marple.  As part of the evening’s entertainment, Fred will introduce some of the local businesses in Frost Heaves, including the Frost Heaves House of Pizza and the Bait and Beauty Salon, featuring the Shampoo and Shiner special.  He’ll also introduce a few of the town’s notable citizens, including Sophie Hamilton, 94-year old organist at the Frost Heaves Community Church (“She’s slowing down,” says Fred), Homer and Elmer Cratchet (two brothers who are a few crackers shy of a full box) and Edith “Telegraph” Wyer, town clerk, among others.  Please join us for what looks to be a fun evening.

News For Epsom Seniors

Did you know there are two Senior Centers serving Epsom seniors?  One is in Pittsfield and you are invited to our Open House on Thursday, September 24th, from 10 am and 2 pm.

Why participate at a Senior Center?  The answer varies by the individual.  Some like the exercise and yoga classes for bone building and flexibility. Other folks attend an art class or a dramatic or musical program.  Many like the craft and quilting clubs.  Others enjoy the games and social events.  This summer we hosted perfect summer day lake tours of Squam and Winnipesaukee.

Lunches are served daily for a nominal fee and for the home-bound, there are delivered meals.  The Pittsfield Senior Center can provide door-to-door transportation to the Center and to appointments and we have extensive information about other elder services.  Visit our Open Houses and learn more.

The Pittsfield Senior Center is on the ground floor of the Pittsfield Community Center on Main Street.  It also serves Barnstead, Chichester and Loudon.   Call Carol Schiferle at 435-8482 for additional information or ask at your library for this month’s newsletter.     Be sure to also visit the Suncook Senior Center and explore their resources and programs.  They are currently located at the Epsom Bible Church at 398 Blackhall Road and can be reached at 485-4254.
