Bill
Babine Is Valley Artisan’s November Artisan Of The Month
On his Goffstown shop scroll saw and band saw, Bill Babine shapes
cars, trucks, train cars, planes and pull-toys: gorillas, whales,
caterpillars and rabbits, using ash wood and he then finishes the
toys with brightly colored water-based products. Other toys
include red barn shaped totes loaded with 10-12 farm animals: cows
goats, horses, pigs and sheep and green totes containing NE woodland
creatures like fox, deer, bear, beaver, squirrels and otter. Any
child would delight in this durable lasting toy.
Currently Bill is designing and cutting 3-D wooden puzzles of
rainforest frogs, bears, wolves and interlocking piles of puppies.
He has donated a Rainforest Frog Puzzle for the artisan raffle.
Bill also crafts Shaker inspired seed boxes, candle boxes and candle
sconces..
Last summer, Bill, a retired
schoolteacher, built mortise and tenon outdoor furniture inspired by
Japanese gardens and inspired by Shaker traditions. He is also
teaching himself to turn wood on a small wood lathe, and he hopes
soon to have simple wooden Christmas ornaments in the Valley
Artisans Shop.
Valley Artisans has 3 rooms of locally
made craft items for your shopping needs and many special gifts for
the holidays. Come enjoy the warmth of the wood stoves and mulled
cider.
We will open 7 days a week from 10AM to
6PM until Christmas Day.
Letter
To my constituents in Allenstown, Epsom,
and Pittsfield, Thank you all for your support! It’s always a
pleasure to meet so many of you at the polls, and I’m humbled by
your votes. It will be an honor to continue to represent you in
Concord. Thank you also for supporting my colleagues, Michael
Brewster and John Klose, our senator John Reagan, and our new
governor, Chris Sununu. Without the fear of a veto, we can pass
common sense legislation such as ensuring only bona fide residents
vote in our elections and that parents and local school boards can
decide where children should be schooled, rather than the bureacracy
in Concord.
I am working on my bills for next year,
and if you have an issue or concern that legislation can help,
please call me this month. New bills can only be filed until
December 2, and that doesn’t leave a lot of time to research for a
bill.
