Desert,” a biographical story of a woman caught between two worlds.
Nicole Kidman stars as a woman who rebels against the rigidity of
life at the turn of the century in England. She travels to Tehran
and begins a lifelong adventure across the Arab world. This
film was shot on location in Morocco and Jordan and contains
outstanding photography.
The Epsom Public
Library is pleased to have on display a beautiful chalk pastel by
Abigail Downey. The work is a rendition of David Bowie as
“Jareth the Goblin King” from the movie The Labyrinth.
Abigail, an Epsom resident, is a junior at Pembroke Academy and
library teen volunteer. Plan to stop by the library and view her
amazing work!
Epsom Food Pantry
Another busy week for the
staff at the Pantry. Around the holidays we seem to have heavy
needs for food, which is great. We are ready for them. As I
have said before, the donations pick up, which is great, and gives
us more to work with. I would like to thank the Mitchells from
Center Hill Rd. who remember us every Christmas season with a
generous donation. Also, to the tenants at Kingstown Mobile
Home Park who had a huge food sale with food and donations all given
to our Food Pantry. Our Eve said it was heartwarming to see the
turnout of Bakers who made it possible.
Thanks so so much.
Remember the date December 22nd to pick up the Christmas boxes.
There is still time to sign up.
I talked with June and
she said we are short on jam/jelly. Kids love their PB&J
sandwhiches.
Until next time,
Priscilla

Valley Artisans December
Artisan Of The Month
Over twenty years ago,
Jan Hoadley of Epsom, heard about a local master basket weaver who
was giving classes. Finding this activity to be quite enjoyable and
a great way to relax from a busy teaching schedule, it soon became a
passion for her. Retirement has given Jan a greater opportunity to
devote more time and energy to developing this skill through further
classes and personal enhancement.
Jan’s baskets are made
from quality reed, using a variety of different techniques. Some are
simply decorative, most are functional, handcrafted in various
styles, shapes and sizes. She particularly enjoys using colored reed
to add interest and impact. It is exciting for Jan to create
different designs and patterns, and to watch the shape of the basket
unfold. Each basket has its own unique personality.
Jan’s goal is to present
a quality product that will be a welcome addition to any home and
bring pleasure and enjoyment for many years to come.
Jan has donated one of
her unique baskets for Valley Artisans’ drawing this December.
Jan and all of us at Valley Artisans welcomes you to stop by the
shop and enter the drawing and check out our three rooms of locally
crafted items.
Remember we are now open
7 days a week from 10 Am to 6 PM til Christmas.

Letter To The Editor
How on earth does
Governor Sununu keep straddling that fence? On the left side, he
wonders what took Senator Hassan so long to call for resignation of
Senator Al Franken. Franken admitted wrongdoing and apologized to
women he had sexually harassed.
Off to the right side of
the fence, Governor Sununu calls for Alabama’s Roy Moore to withdraw
from the Senate race for inappropriate sexual behavior with minors
when Moore was in his 30s. Moore denies accusations even though some
accusers have proof of Moore’s perverted behavior.
Governor Sununu is full
throated supporter of ‘groper-in-chief’ Donald Trump. Is straddling
that fence painful, Governor?

Farrell Robert “Bob” Hahn
EPSOM- Farrell Robert
“Bob” Hahn, 74, of Epsom passed away peacefully in the care of Epsom

Bob’s professional career
began working in First National supermarkets as a teen and as a
salesman for American Chicle in the late 60’s. In 1971, he and his
family moved to Epsom, bought Gossville General Store and operated
it passionately until 1979. In 1980, Bob worked as a salesman for

his deep love of family, his quick wit, his generous nature and
skill in building lasting relationships; both personal and
professional.
Bob’s proudest
achievement was raising his two sons. They, along with his three
