“Noble” is the film being shown as the movie matinee at the Epsom
Public Library on Wednesday, August 16. An award winning film,
it tells the true story of a fearless Irish heroine driven to escape
the slums of Ireland and risk everything on the streets of Vietnam.
On Wednesday, August 23, the library will be showing “Alone in
Berlin” at 1:30. Set in Berlin in 1940, working class couple
Otto and Anna Quangel receive the news that their only son has lost
his life on the battlefield. They decide to resist the Nazi
regime in their very own way. Soon the Gestapo is hunting “the
threat.” Emma Thompson and Brendan Gleeson star.
The film is rated R for violence.

Epsom Food Pantry
The
Food Pantry is keeping busy.
As we grow we need equipment to
keep us up to date, so this week I purchased a small copy machine
for the Pantry. I know Ken and crew will appreciate it.
Let me
tell you about a marvelous donation we got from Planet Aid Inc. Those
are the yellow containers that collect clothes. Not only did
this donation include our Care Pharmacy and Georges Carpet
locations, but three other stores in the state. Very thoughtful and
many thanks to them for remembering Epsom.
The veggies are making
their way to the Pantry and that is great. Thank you everyone.
Until next time, Priscilla
Seasons In Review
The
Epsom Public Library is pleased to announce its new exhibit,
“Seasons in Review,” featuring artwork by Northwood resident, Eileen
Golden.
Depicting familiar sights of daily New England life, the
exhibit includes nearly 40 landscapes, seascapes and still life
paintings in watercolor and acrylic.
The artist previously taught
art at the elementary school level for 10 years, but has only
recently picked up painting for her own pleasure, and is currently
studying with Larry Frates, Artist in Residence at Belknap Mill in
Laconia. That pleasure, as well as an enthusiasm for her chosen
mediums, shows clearly in Eileen’s beautifully-expressed exhibit.
The show runs through September 30th and may be viewed during
regular library hours: Monday – Thursday, 10 am to 7 pm, and
Saturday, 9 am to 1 pm. For more information, call the library
at 603 736-9920 or visit www.epsomlibrary.com.
