“Stronger” is the movie
scheduled for Wednesday, March 7 at the Epsom Public Library at
1:30. Inspired by the true story of Jeff Bauman, played by
Jake Gyllehhaal, who lost both legs when the bomb blast occurred at
the 2013 Boston Marathon. This is a story of courage, resilience,
and a battle that tested family bonds and defines a community’s
pride as he overcomes adversity to become the symbol of “Boston
Strong.” This movie is rated R for violence, language and
depictions of extreme trauma.

Virginia Drew is running
for a position on Epsom’s Select Board. I have seen her at work and
know some of the duties she is responsible for. I know she is
involved in town politics, and has served on several budget
committees, as well as School Boards. I know her to be attentive,
knowledgeable and responsible, as well as honest, ethical and
competent. Her time at the State House has provided her with a
wealth of knowledge and experience.
Other credentials
include: founding member of Epsom Youth Athletic Association,
Library Trustee as well as member of the Friends of the library,
former secretary to the Planning Board, she’s been active in the PTO
and has been both Girl Scout leader and Boy Scout leader.
I believe she will listen
to Epsom voters, will fulfill her duties in an honest and
above-board manner. Please join me as I support Virginia in
her bid for the office of Selectman.

Letter To The Editor
Every late winter, towns
need to post their roads in order to save the pavement from very
costly damage done by heavy vehicles, mostly trucks. One pass
of a truck can do up to 38,000 times the damage of a car or pick-up.
That being said, I’ll try
to paint a picture that I’m not very good at. When the weather warms
or the sun shines hard on the black surface of a road, the gravel or
dirt under the pavement starts to unfreeze leaving a squsshy (sic)
layer between the pavement and the frozen ground under the squsshy
layer. Then when a heavy vehicle drives on the pavement, the
squsshy gravel moves aside allowing the pavement under the tires to
move downward. All the squsshy gravel doesn’t move back
leaving a weak area under the pavement.
Besides the school
building, your roads are the most costly for the tax payers to
replace. I don’t want to give a dollar number because it could
cause an unnecessary debate which would be an unnecessary
distraction. The object is to save the roads – not whether it
costs 10, 20, or 30 million to repair properly.

Epsom Food Pantry
Well, I do have some
great news this week. Our Food Pantry Manager, Ken Brown, has
recovered from his accident and is now back at the helm. Yeah ! He
has been there since we opened the doors, so we are all thankful to
have him back.
I want to thank the staff
from Armand to June and everybody along the way for stepping up to
the plate to keep our Pantry running smoothly. Ken had
always.shared the running of the Pantry, so when he was not there,
they carried on nicely.
We had a contribution
from Steve Lombard, in memory of his Mom, Eris.
June said we could use
some ketchup, mayo, mustard, jam, and baking goods. We like to put
in brownie and cake mixes for the kids.
We have been busy at the
Pantry and have welcomed some new families that need a helping hand.
Remember people, we are there for you. If your job goes away and you
need us for a short time, please call me and I will set you up. Also
remember to vote on the 13th of March. Many men and women have made
sacrifices so that you could.

Obituaries
Stuart O. “Stu” Merrill
EPSOM-
Mr. Stuart O. “Stu” Merrill, 67, of Epsom, passed away at Concord
Hospital on February 16, 2018 surrounded by family and friends.
Born in York, Maine, Stu
was the son of Therese M.R. (Houle) Merrill of South Berwick, ME and
the late Osmond Merrill. He was raised and educated in South
Berwick and had been a resident of Epsom for the past 17 years.
Prior to his retirement
last year, Stu had been employed as a Maintenance Supervisor for
Sanmina-SCI in Manchester. He was a past member of the Dover
Lodge of Elks.
Stu enjoyed horseshoes,
fishing, camping, riding his motorcycle, playing darts, bowling,
playing cards, and his many trips to Mohegan Sun. Above all,
he cherished the time spent sitting on his porch talking with family
and friends.
In addition to his
mother, he is survived by his wife of 18 years, Cindy F. (Gates)
Merrill; his children, Stacie Merrill of NY, Lauren Merrill of
Kittery, ME and Thomas Merrill and wife Angela of Northwood; his
stepsons, Keith McFetridge of Concord, Kevin McFetridge of Epsom and
Tim McFetridge of Pittsfield; siblings, Brett Merrill of Eliot, ME,
Dianne Buttrick and husband Danny of Berwick, ME and David Merrill
of Eliot, ME; grandson, Clifford LeClair and stepgrandchildren,
Kevin McFetridge, Jr., Keith McFetridge IV and Kaylee McFetridge; as
well as many other aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and
friends.
Stu was a remarkable man
who will forever be remembered for his sharp sense of humor,
kindness and generosity to all.
Burial will take place in
the spring at McClary Cemetery in Epsom. To share a memory or

Robert F. Clark
Robert F. Clark, 49, of
Bozeman, MT, formerly of Epsom and Chichester, passed away while
traveling in Bogota, Colombia following a sudden illness on
Wednesday, February 14, 2018.
Born on March 30, 1968 in
Nashua, NH, he was the son of Richard and Margaret (Sanford) Clark
of Epsom.
Robert was a graduate of
Pembroke Academy Class of 1986 and moved to Montana in 2000. In
2007, he received his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from
Montana State University. He was a true outdoorsman, enjoying
running, hiking, fishing, hunting, birdwatching and mountain
climbing on many mountains, most notably the Himalayan Mountain
Range. He embodied the title of a true New England Sports Fan even
when living in Montana, holding true to his New England Red Sox and
Patriots roots.
Besides his parents, Rob
is survived by his siblings, Richard Clark, Jr. and his wife Linda
of Epsom, Kathy Piper and her husband Corey of Gilmanton Ironworks;
nieces and nephews, Nicole and Nathan Clark, Ashley and Emily Piper;
his special friend, Trudy Healy as well as numerous other friends
and acquaintances.
A Funeral Service was
held on Saturday, February 24th in the Still Oaks Funeral & Memorial
Home in Epsom. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rob’s
memory to the New Hampshire Audubon Society, 84 Silk Farm Road,
