We invite you all to come enjoy the great food. Directly after the Dinner, the Youth Group will hold a “Slave Auction” to raise monies to help fund their weekend at Soul Fest this summer. It would be a great time to get your lawn raked/mowed; car washed; windows washed; garden planted, or small tasks around the house. The following youth have signed up to be “slaves”: Josh Buttrick, Caleb Elliot, Haley Elliot, Tyler Emond, Courtney Gullage, Kaity Gullage, Courtney Jacques, Halley Jakubens, and Nathaniel Jakubens. Earth Day And Library Week Celebrated At The Gilmanton Corner Library

“Earth Day” (April 22) is a day to reflect on our planet, our environment and what we can do to keep them healthy. Gilmanton Corner Library will be celebrating with crafts, books and stickers. Now would be a good time to check out the “Cut the Carbon Kit” and find out how energy efficient your appliances are.

Across the country, families are facing tough economic times. People are visiting their libraries more often and checking out items with greater frequency. National Library Week (April 11-17) is an annual celebration of the contributions of our nation’s libraries and librarians. This year’s theme “Communities Thrive At Your Libraries” will feature “Fine Forgiveness” for library users who bring in 2 cans of food for the food pantry.

We have seven new donated CDs: Blind Side by Catherine Coulter, Tripwire by Lee Child, The Devil’s Punchbowl by Greg Iles, Kill and Tell by Linda Howard, Even Money by Dick Francis, Reckless by Amanda Quick and Red Light by T. Jefferson Parker.

Plan a visit this month to the Gilmanton Corner Public Library. Wed. 3 - 5 and Sat. 10-12. Information 267-6200. Summer hours begin May 3. Monday & Thursdays 2:00-8:00, Tuesday & Fridays 2:00-4:00 and Wednesdays 2:00-6:00.

Holy Trinity Holds Annual School Auction

It’s Spring Time and that means time for the annual Holy Trinity School Auction.  Due to the popularity of this event, this year’s auction will be held at the expansive Sacred Heart Parish Hall building behind Sacred Heart Church on the corner of Gilford Ave. and Union Avenue in Laconia on Saturday, April 17th.

Silent Auction will begin at 6 p.m.; Live Auction starts at 7 pm.  Complimentary snacks, dessert and coffee are available. Fratello’s Italian Grille has donated a delicious Italian dinner which is available and for which the school requests a $10 donation.  As always the auction will feature a variety of family fun packages, vacation stays, gift certificates, prime sports tickets and autographed memorabilia, hand-crafted items, theme baskets, overnight camp stays, TVs, DVDs, Meadowbrook passes, spa & golf packages, and of course a few surprises!    So grab a friend and come make a night of it!

This is the auction where you are sure to get great bargains and share some laughs.  We guarantee you’ll have fun and eat well, all while supporting a great cause, the students of Holy Trinity School.  PK Zyla will lead the fast pace bidding and Warren Bailey serves as Master of Ceremonies.  Reserve table seating for 10 in advance by contacting Cathy at Holy Trinity School at 524-3156.

An updated list of auction items can be found at www.holytrinityauction.com

This year’s auction is sponsored, in part, by Laconia Savings Bank and supported by the many friends and local businesses who have donated great auction items.

New Books Have Arrived At Gilmanton Corner Public Library

Winter is now behind us, daffodils are coming forth, and we look forward to another great spring, summer and fall season. Although we are open during the winter months, (November through April) the volunteers are gearing up for the new season.

New Arrivals At The Library!!!
Adult fiction books are The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by Steig Larsson, The Cutting by James Hayman, Deception by Jonathan Kellerman, House Rules by Jodi Picoult, and The Help by Katheryn Stockett.

Fiction books for our Juvenile group are #5 A Dangerous Path by Erin Hunter and #6 The Darkest Hour by Erin Hunter and The Lightning Thief by Rick Rioran and for our Young Adults we purchased The Vampire Diaries by L. J. Smith.

We had donated the first time ever DVD of the classic African Queen which was one of the greatest achievements in the history of cinema. Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn tell the timeless tale of two mismatched strangers joining forces in a common cause – and finding love along the way. Humphrey plays Charlie, the river rat, while Katharine plays Rose Sayer, the missionary. It is sure to be a popular DVD. If it is not available when you come to borrow this DVD, make sure you get your name on our “want to borrow” list.
