Gilmanton Gratefully Accepts Gift Of Conservation Land
Nancy Christie of Pittsfield
signing deeds to two parcels of family land that she has given to the Town
Of Gilmanton.
The Town of Gilmanton and its Conservation Commission have gratefully
accepted a gift of two parcels of land in Gilmanton Corners from Nancy
Christie of Pittsfield. One parcel of 13.71 acres located behind the church
and town offices includes a scenic field, mixed forests, a part of Huckins
Brook and an amazing beaver pond teaming with birds and other wildlife. This
property is adjacent to Nancy’s childhood home and she has many fond
memories of childhood explorations of the forest and wetlands. The second
parcel of 19.97 acres also belonged to Nancy’s family and is located on the
opposite side of NH Rte. 140 behind the Quaker Cemetery and the Page State
Forest. This parcel is completely forested and surrounded by stone
walls. Deer, moose and bear have been observed here.
Both parcels are protected by conservation easements held by Five
Rivers Conservation Trust. Non-motorized public pedestrian access is
guaranteed. Enjoy these two treasures located so close to the center of the
Town. Should you have questions please contact the Gilmanton Conservation
Commission at 267-6700 or
[email protected].

joining, you should plan to arrive by 1:30 when the meeting will begin.

these matters.
