Monday

29th at 1:30, “Leap Year”, is one of the most delightful, relatable
romantic comedies to come along in a great while, and its appeal is
due in equal measure to the talents of its star, Amy Adams, and the
lush, romantic countryside of Ireland. Rated 4 stars!

afternoon event.
Gilmanton Historical Society Field Trip To Wright Museum
Members
and friends of the Gilmanton Historical Society will take a field
trip to the Wright Museum in Wolfeboro on Saturday morning, August
27.
The collection of the Wright Museum features some of
the most remarkable artifacts anywhere, illustrating the role of
America during World War II. The museum’s highlights are
fully-furnished period vignettes including a 1942 gas station,
corner soda fountain, and dentist office. In addition to the Home
Front experience, special displays include a large array of fully
operational military vehicles: tanks, halftracks, jeeps, motorcycles
and more. The museum is fortunate to have in its vehicle collection
a 42 ton Pershing tank, the only existing example from the capture
of the Bridge at Remagen over the Rhine River.
Admission is $8
for adults and $6 for veterans and seniors over 55.
To car pool,
meet at Old Town Hall in Gilmanton Iron Works at 9:30 am. Or
come directly to the museum on Route 16 in Wolfeboro at 10 o’clock.
Gilmanton Year-Round Library Association Announces
Changes To Board
Of Directors
This year’s Annual Meeting brought some emotional
farewells to several members of the Association that have been
involved since the Year-Round Library was only a vision, more than
ten years ago. In addition, the staff and current board of
GYRLA are happy to welcome new board members. The addition of
these new directors will further diversify the outstanding talents
and wide-ranging experience that our directors already bring to
GYRLA. Together they will provide our board and library with
new insight and perspectives necessary to the Gilmanton Year-Round
Library’s success.
Anne Kirby was confirmed as President after
serving on the Board for several years, with the last two as
vice-president. She is an effective spokesperson, also having the
ability to plan for the long term and more immediate needs of the
library. Her dedication and enthusiasm will serve the library well
as it begins its third year of operation.
Cindy Hatch was
confirmed as Vice-President. She has been on the Board for two
years. Cindy works as a consultant and trainer for people in the
financial industry. She served for six years on the Gilmanton School
Board and served as Chairperson on the board for several years.
Cindy brings a strong set of people skills to the Board.
Sue Barr
was confirmed as Secretary. Sue has actively worked for the Library
for over ten years. Currently on the Board, she is very active in
fundraising and other events. The library would hardly be the
same without. Her attention to detail and dedication to the library
will make her a wonderful secretary.
Bill Foster was confirmed as
Governance Committee Chairperson and Director at Large. Bill
has been on the Board since its formation as a member and officer.
He has worked on a variety of projects and activities for the
library. His knowledge of the organization and workings of the
library make him a strong asset to the library.
Fred Buchholz was
confirmed as Treasurer. Fred is a self employed Electrical
Engineer and has been a Gilmanton resident for 27 years. He
has been a Trustee of Trust Funds for the town since 2001, and its
Chairman since 2006. Fred is Sexton of Smith Meeting House
Cemetery. He was treasurer for Pack 242 for four years, and is
currently treasurer of the Gilmanton Historical Society.
Directors At Large: Laura L. Stephan has lived on Crystal Lake
full-time for the last 4 years and been a part-time resident since
1996. Following a 25 year career in the mortgage industry and
attending many Chamber of Commerce meetings, Laura now specializes
in volunteering. She is a tech and props assistant for the
Winnipesaukee Playhouse, a home visitor and driver for the NH
Association for the Blind and answers a hotline for the RDV Crisis
Center.
Kristyn Fischev has been happily married for 15
years and has two children, Eliya and Kasianna. She has been a
Realtor for Better Homes & Gardens Masiello Group for four years
now. Kristyn lived abroad in Germany and Russia for a few years and
traveled extensively throughout Europe.
Joanne Gianni settled
into Gilmanton in 2002. Her professional experience includes
Production Management in high-tech companies including Analog
Devices and Apple Computer. After serving as Gilmanton
Assistant-Deputy Town Clerk/Tax Collector for 5 years, she retired
in July of 2010. She truly appreciates the Gilmanton Year Round
Library and its services to the community and recognizes it as one
of the nicest she’s ever visited.
Stan Bean, Alice Bean, Carolyn
Baldwin, Carolyn Dickey and Susannah Chance have offered invaluable
service to GYRLA over many years, and we are deeply grateful for
their insights, counsel and commitment to GYRLA’s success.
Their tireless efforts have helped to create the “heart and soul” of
Gilmanton with the Library barn welcoming the entire community.
The entire board of directors thanks each of these directors for
their many contributions towards the long-term success of GYRLA.
