Organist Harriet Coupal will play a prelude and a postlude.  Special music will be provided by Brenda and Roy Buttrick.  Refreshments will be served in the meeting room downstairs after the service. Please come and bring your friends and family to this non-denominational service.

December 16, 2012, at 2:00 pm will be the last service of the year. We will resume church services the Sunday before Memorial Day in May. Watch this newspaper for notices of our church service in December.

Letter

My campaign for State Representative of District 5 has been such a valuable experience. I have been most grateful for the opportunity to see my neighbors in Gilmanton and meet new folks in Alton.

I have spent many hours at the Transfer Station of both towns trying to meet as many people as I can. I believe it is important to reach out to the members of the community you want to represent; to hear their concerns. I have appreciated the  inquiries about my positions and good wishes.

I knew this race would be a challenge. So few people knew me in Alton and I knew so little about the town… Other than my favorite McDonald’s at the Alton circle! I have enjoyed my time at the Transfer Station and have made new friends. I want to thank the gentlemen, Joe and Brian, who work at the Recycling Center for their kindness and who always made me feel welcome. I want to thank the voters of Alton who decided to take a chance with me despite the newness of our relationship.

To my hometown, thank you for your support and a very rewarding personal win. I am honored that you wanted me to represent you in Concord. I would have been proud to do so.

Congratulations to Dick Burchell and Stephen Holmes. It is an honor to serve. I do believe in the notion that people of different political parties can work together for a common purpose. I hope you will join your colleagues and do the work for all your constituents… That you will support inclusive legislation that promotes the well being of all residents of New Hampshire.

Please let us know the work you are doing on our behalf.

There are still raffle tickets available for the beautiful quilt that was made and donated by Victoria Parkhill  of Gilmanton Iron Works.  The tickets are available at the Thrift Shop or from one of our committee members.  We will also have the quilt raffle tickets for sale at the upcoming Gilmanton Community Church Christmas Tea and Fair on Dec. 1st.  The drawing for the winner of the quilt will be on December 15th.  The tickets are $2.00 each or 3 tickets for $5.00.  All monies raised from the sale of tickets goes directly to support the food pantry and its many programs.

We are still collecting non-perishable food items for our holiday food baskets.  Some suggested items for donation are:  bottled juice, canned peas/green beans/corn, cranberry sauce, stuffing mix, canned fruit, cereal, canned turkey gravy, breakfast muffin mix, coffee, cocoa, pickles and olives.  If you would like to donate money to purchase perishable items for the baskets, please mail your check to GCC Food Pantry, PO Box 6, Gilmanton IW, NH  03837.  If you have donations of food for the pantry please bring it to the Food Pantry during business hours or you may leave it in one of our collection boxes.  Boxes are located at the Gilmanton School, Academy Building and at the Year Round Library.

Winter outerwear is still needed for children.  We are looking for new or very gently used and clean winter jackets, snowpants and boots for girls and boys in sizes from infant to adult (for teenagers).  If you have donations for our winter clothing program we ask that you drop them off at the Thrift Shop during our business hours only.  If you are unable to get to the Thrift Shop when if is open you may contact Jane Sisti @ 364-7437.
