Lower Gilmanton First Baptist Church Christmas Service
And Holiday Get Together
The Lower Gilmanton First Baptist Church on Route 107 is having
their annual Christmas Service and Holiday Get Together on Saturday,
December 8th at 6:00 pm. Reverend Alfred Page and organist Henry
Frost will be sharing their gifts of faith and words in music.
There will be a collection box for non-perishable food items, which
will be donated to the Gilmanton Community Church Food Pantry. For
the young at heart, there will be a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus,
so bring a child’s present for Santa to give out.
Please make a dessert to share with family, friends, and neighbors.
All are welcome to attend. Hope to see you there.
Students at the Gilmanton School took part in a Thanksgiving Basket
Food Drive during the month of November. The drive was put on by the
school’s Student Leadership Team. By the end of the drive, the
students of Gilmanton School had collected 1,661 non-perishable food
items. These items were delivered to the Gilmanton Food Pantry. The
members of the Student Leadership Team and the Gilmanton Food Pantry
would like to thank all of the students and families that supported
this important event!

Letter
Thank you Alton and Gilmanton for voting for me as your State
representative in District 5. As we move past the partisan rhetoric
which so mars political discourse, it is time to begin a sober
assessment as to the best ways to move New Hampshire and Belknap
County to a position of greater economic competitiveness. Many will
be surprised to learn the degree to which New Hampshire has slipped
in favorability rankings for business climate, taxes, fees and
regulatory environment. We must find ways to restore our
competitive edge.
Our State and region have an additional area of concern and that is
that our population is growing older with young people comprising a
smaller percentage of the populace. This top heavy pyramid of many
older people and fewer younger ones employed in the workforce has
dire long range consequences. Only through greater economic
competitiveness will we create the jobs which are needed to reverse
this unhealthy dynamic.
Your comments and concerns are always welcome at:
[email protected].
I plan to update you regularly on legislative affairs.
Sincerely,
Dick Burchell

our committee members. We will also have the quilt raffle tickets
for sale at the upcoming Gilmanton Community Church Christmas Tea
and Fair on December 1st. The drawing for the winner of the quilt
will be on December 15th. The tickets are $2.00 each or 3 tickets

to support the food pantry and its many programs.
We would like to express a huge Thank You to all who donated to our
Thanksgiving food baskets. A special thank you goes out to the
Student Leadership Team and all the students of the Gilmanton
School, the Boy Scouts of America “Scouting for Food” program, the
Gilmanton Women’s Club, the Gilmanton Preschool, Wolcott
Construction and all the wonderful individuals who brought in food
or donated money for the baskets.
We continue to collect non-perishable food items for the Christmas
food baskets. Some suggested items for donation are: bottled juice,
canned peas, canned corn, cranberry sauce, stuffing mix, canned
fruit, canned turkey gravy, breakfast muffin mix, coffee, cocoa,
pickles, olives, pineapple, canned fruit, pasta, spaghetti sauce,
mayonnaise, tuna, canned pasta, brownie mix, cake mixes and
frosting, or mac and cheese.
If you would like to donate money to purchase perishable items for
the baskets, please mail your check to GCC Food Pantry, PO Box 6,

pantry, please bring them to the Food Pantry during business hours
or you may leave it in one of our collection boxes. Boxes are
located at the Gilmanton School, Academy Building and at the Year
Round Library.
Winter outerwear is still needed for children. We are looking for
new or very gently used and clean winter jackets, snowpants and
boots for girls and boys in sizes from infant to adult (for
teenagers). If you have donations for our winter clothing program,
we ask that you drop them off at the Thrift Shop during our business

get your donation. If you are unable to get to the Thrift Shop when
it is open, you may contact Jane Sisti at 364-7437.

Tree” again this year. This is part of the GCC Food Pantry “Adopt a
Child” program, but allows some to purchase just 1 or 2 items for a
child. The “Giving Tree” is located in the entryway at the
Gilmanton School. We hope that you will be able to help us with one
or more of these wonderful and meaningful programs at this time of
year.
