GCC Food Pantry And Thrift Shop News
On Saturday, May 11th, the Gilmanton Iron Works and Gilmanton
Corners postal workers will be participating in the Stamp Out Hunger
Food Drive. You can help out by putting your non-perishable food
items, household items and personal care items in a bag and leaving
it by your mailbox for pick-up by your letter carrier on that date.
The items you donate will be given to the GCC Food Pantry for
distribution. If you have a post office box you can bring your
donations to either your local post office or to the food pantry. We
thank you for helping out those in your community who are in need of
assistance.
We wish to say an enormous Thank You to all who donated to our
Feinstein Challenge. We received over $5,000.00 in food and money
from the community and beyond and will be submitting our application
to Mr. Allen Feinstein soon. So again, thank you for making our
first year of participation a huge success!
We will begin our Mother’s Day Sale on Monday, May 6th and it will
run thru to Saturday, May 18th. All women’s, girl’s, boy’s and
infant’s clothing and accessories will be 50% off. All women’s
pants, capris, shorts and skirts will be $1.00 as well. All gowns
will also be on sale at 50% off. Come in and check out all the
beautiful clothing and accessories we have for the entire family and
enjoy the savings of 50% off these items. We hope you will also
think of the GCC Thrift Shop as you are cleaning out that unwanted
clothing this spring. We are in great need of spring and summer
clothing, but we as always expect all clothing year round. Please
think of us instead of putting your items in the big yellow box. If
you are not able to bring your clothing to the Thrift Shop during
our business hours, please call Jane Sisti at 364-7437 or drop in
off at the Dump Run Café at the Corners Church on Rt 107 on
Wednesdays between 8:30 am and 11:30 am. You can also leave
clothing in the entryway of the corners church, please make sure you
mark the bags or boxes clearly for the Thrift Shop. Thank you for
helping out.
The GCC Food Pantry committee has begun preparing our raised gardens
for planting. We are in need of volunteers to help out with the work
and we are also looking for donations of materials. We are in need
of cinder block for another bed, black mulch, and landscape fabric
for weed prevention. We are also looking for tomato, cucumber,
butternut squash and green pepper plants. If you are interested in
helping out or donating any of these items, please contact Jane
Sisti at 364-7437.
The GCC Food Pantry and Thrift Shop is still looking for new
volunteers to work. We are open a total of 12 hours a week and
usually have volunteers who work in shifts of at least 2 hours.
Please give Jane Sisti a call at 364-7437 if you are interested in
volunteering at the shop and she will work you into the schedule.
With spring and summer upon us we need extra help so that everyone
can enjoy the wonderful weather.
As always, if you wish to make a donation of food or clothing to the
GCC Food Pantry and Thrift Shop, we ask that you bring it to the
shop during our business hours. Food can also be left in one of the
collection boxes located at the Academy Building, the Gilmanton
School or the Year Round Library. Checks can be mailed to us at PO
Box 6, Gilmanton Iron Works, 03837. We are located on Rt. 140 in
Gilmanton Iron Works, across from the Iron Works Market. We are open
on Monday 1pm – 5pm, Wednesday 3pm – 7pm, and Saturday 10am – 2pm.
Parking is located in the Gilmanton Community Church parking lot
just west of the shop.
We thank you for your continued support of the Food Pantry and all
of its programs. Remember that sales from the Thrift Shop go to
support the Pantry.
