Mary Florence Morse
Gilmanton- Mary Florence Morse, 94,of 74
Foss Rd., died peacefully in her home, surrounded by love, and her
family on Friday Dec. 15, 2017.
She was
born on April 9th, 1923, in Gilmanton NH, the daughter of John A.
Geddes and Florence (Edgerly) Geddes. She was a proud nurse, and
after retiring, she enjoyed many years as a classroom volunteer at
the Gilmanton Elementary school.
She
enjoyed music, playing the guitar and harmonica in her younger
years, and later the Hammer Dulcimer. Most recently she took up the
Bodhran drum at 92, playing with The Dump Run Gang. Mary was an
active member of the Gilmanton Community Church and loved her church
family as her own. She had a gift for hospitality, loved cooking,
spending time with family, friends and neighbors. She was known for
her volunteerism and stepping in when needed. One of her greatest
joys was her large weekly family dinners.
She was
predeceased by her parents, husband, Howard B. Morse, two brothers,
Duncan A. Geddes, and David W. Geddes. She leaves sons Herb Morse,
John Morse and wife, Donna, all of Gilmanton, Donald Morse and Trish
Gordon of Pittsfield, and daughter Donna Morse and Garrett Doyle of
Alton, seven grandchildren , seven great-grandchildren and many
nieces and nephews.
A
Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 13th, at
the Gilmanton Community Church at the corners, 497 Province Rd.
