Pittsfield Elementary School students collected over six hundred pounds
of food for the Pittsfield Food Pantry in the days leading up to the
Thanksgiving break. Each classroom collected donations of non-perishable
food items. Students kept track of the number of items, the total weight
of items, and the volume of items as measured in “recycling bins.” One
sixth-grade classroom collected the weightiest donation: 91 pounds of
food, a fourth-grade class collected the greatest number: seventy-one
items; and a third-grade class collected the largest volume of items,
filling 1.6 recycling bins. Donations were delivered to the Pittsfield
Food Pantry on Wednesday, November 25. Pictured is Ms. Kaplan’s sixth
grade class.
